Fall Splendor Shrubs At Nature Hills!

Lilac Bush

Nothing lights up a landscape like autumn! Celebrate the change of seasons by choosing bushes from our inventory that put on a colorful show between the end of summer and the onset of winter. Fall color shrubs are beloved for many reasons, but their gorgeous end-of-season color is what attracts us to them the most.

While age, weather and climate, and drought can affect how vivid your Fall-Color shrubs display lasts, these deciduous shrubs offer beauty all growing season, as well as during their final farewell performance for you to enjoy!

Using Fall Color Shrubs

The fall season elicits a menagerie of color! However, injecting a color scheme into the landscape takes careful planning. It is wise to remember that not only is foliage important for the hues of autumn, but flowers, berries, and seed pods add additional color and interest.

Choose fall color shrubs that complement each other and brim with interest all year long! The Chippewa Blueberry or container-sized Bushel and Berry® Peach Sorbet® Blueberries (Vaccinium) are ornamental, fruit-producing, and have striking fall colors.

An eye-catching combination is created when the purple-orange of the many varieties of Black Chokeberry (Aronia melanocarpa) mixes with the fire-red Burning Bush (Euonymus alatus) placed in the background. Dozens of these color combinations are available, and it may take a few seasons before you can nail the exact effect you’re pursuing.

Sumac shrubs have tropical-looking foliage all growing season and upright flowers and seed pods that wildlife adore! Then their flaming fall color lights up your garden and bridges the gap between wilderness and landscape. Pair with the dried panicles or mopheads of Hydrangea, and the bright red berries of Winterberry Holly, and then lead into the mixed hues of Cotoneasters.

Autumn Bushes: More Than Colorful Leaves

Hydrangea

Fall color shrubs can produce lovely landscapes even after the colorful leaves have fallen. Shrubs such as the Red Twigged Dogwood bushes and the Yellow Twig Dogwood (Cornus) have bright red and yellow stems to lighten up a barren fall or winter garden. For spectacular fall views, you can find fall color attributes in the Hydrangea, native Viburnum bushes and pretty purple fruit of the Beautyberry (Callicarpa), and the dramatic hues of the Ninebark (Physocarpus) families!

Evergreen shrubs add a welcome touch of verdant life to drab winter gardens. A Patti O Box® Japanese Holly needs no care or pruning to maintain a tidy and refined profile. Go golden in the autumn with the Emerald 'n Gold Wintercreeper (Euonymus) edging your beds with low-growing bright green leaves accented by delicious gold. Choose a PJM Rhododendron for stunning lavender flowers in spring and rich, full dark green foliage that deepens to a delightful purple-russet shade in winter.
