You'll be the star of the Farmers Market!

Delicious, healthy, and packed full of antioxidants and vitamins, Honeyberries are considered Superfruits for good reason!

The Honeyberry Bush

Honeyberry InfographicAlso known as the Sweetberry or, Haksap berry in Japan, Honeyberry are native to parts of Siberia - Yes, THAT Siberia where winters are colder than cold. If it can survive there, you know that it will make it in your northern garden without batting an eye!

These pretty plants have small cream-colored flowers in the spring and nice flat-green leaves through the fall. The fruit typically ripens in early summer, a full two weeks before the Strawberries begin to redden!

Growing as small as 3-4 feet in height and spreading about the same, the largest Berry Blue Honeyberry can reach 6-8 feet!

Lonicera needs a pollinator, because everyone does better with a friend, you'll get increased yields when planting different types of Honeyberry! Nature Hills lists pollinators and plant care for each on that plant's page.

Landscaping With Haksap Bushes

These hardy deciduous fruiting shrubs make nice backdrops in vegetable herb gardens, and Kitchen gardens and mix beautifully in garden borders as edible landscaping plants!

Plant linear berry orchards by using double-duty Haksaps in a low informal fruiting hedge for a larger harvest, mixing and matching with other varieties. The birds will love you and the neighbors won't mind the edible, friendly fence! The small green leaves add pretty screening all growing season!

These are dense privacy and great wildlife shelterbelts when planted in rows. Go linear with your berry orchard and create rows for screening and wildlife. Groupings also provide habitat and increase your harvest, while adding to your home's landscape décor! After all, these are very ornamental shrubs all growing season!

Keeping your bush under a net while growing is a great way to ensure the berries aren't enjoyed by the wildlife before you can get to them yourself. Not only are wildlife attracted to these juicy fruits, but they also attract many pollinators as Butterflies and bees will flutter about your garden!

Caring For These Unique & Delicious Superfruits!

These Honeysuckle family members have very few pests or disease issues! Honeyberry bushes do best in full sun, you'll get the most fruit in at least 6 hours of direct sunlight a day.

Loving consistent moisture and enriched soil, be sure to provide a thick layer of mulch over the soil surface to hold in moisture and insulate the roots.

Prune when dormant to correct the size or shape, and maintain an open interior for air and sunlight penetration. Cover the root systems with a layer of extra mulch or compost for the winter.
