Cedar Trees for Sale at Nature Hills Nursery

There is a unique grandeur in mature Cedar trees. There are only five true Cedars (Cedrus genus) native to the Western Himalayas and the Mediterranean. Three types of Cedar trees grow in the United States. You’ll find several Cedar trees for sale right here at Nature Hills Nursery.

Cedrus is a long-lived tree with highly aromatic oils. It tolerates a wide variety of soil types but prefers full sun. Use a single Cedar tree as a landscape specimen. Or, create a park-like setting with a grouping of several.

As your Cedrus trees age, the males will start producing incredible, upright cones. These geometric cones are bold and barrel-shaped for a lot of added interest.

Types of Cedar Trees: Add Variety to Your Landscape

Incredible Deodar Cedar features an interplay between strong and soft. Horizontal branches spread wide, with secondary branches that hang down for a sophisticated, feathery look.

This popular tree sells out very quickly, as people appreciate the graceful visual appeal of Deodar Cedar. In the south, people consider it a living Christmas tree.

Distinctively powerful Cedar of Lebanon is an acclaimed genus Cedrus from Asia that is mentioned more than 100 times in the Bible. The aromatic Lebanon Cedar wood is held more stiffly than Deodar, and makes a showy impression.

Blue Atlas Cedar comes in a wide range of forms. We are pleased to offer specialty Blue Atlas cultivars, including the unforgettable Horstmann Blue Atlas Cedar.

Add a Horstmann (or three.) wherever you need a standout plant statement. They grow into sculptural design elements that provide excellent contrast to Roses and round-leaved Fothergilla shrubs.

Try growing a living waterfall. All eyes will go for the dramatic, downwards sweep of color of Weeping Blue Atlas Cedar.

Versatile Cryptomeria Japanese Cedar Trees for Sale

Let's talk now about another genus that is called Cedar. Fragrant Cryptomeria trees work hard to provide a soft screen in full sun and partial shade.

With fluffy needles that hug the upright form, Cryptomeria Yoshino brings a wonderfully naturalistic look to your yard. Hide the neighbor and create a sensational backdrop at the same time.

You'll not have to prune the valuable Cryptomeria Radicans much. It grows quickly into a feathery green privacy screen.

Tolerant of clay soils, partial shade and even water-wise once established in your soil, Cryptomeria Radicans is a go-to for our long-time clients. Add it where you want to achieve up to 4 feet of growth a year — that’s fast.

For a compact cultivar, try First Editions® Chapel View Japanese Cedar. You'll love the dense, dark blue-green needles as a wonderfully effective, right-sized screen for small space gardens.

Red Cedar and White Cedar are Not Types of Cedar Trees

Despite having the word “cedar” in their nicknames, Red Cedar and White Cedar are not types of Cedar trees at all. They are both nicknames for native thuja arborvitae.

Arborvitae features soft, flat sprays of foliage and a well-behaved nature. They are used throughout the United States, and modern plant breeders are working hard to bring useful new forms to market.

Nature Hills offers many shapes and sizes of this aromatic tree. Click the product photos to see the Plant Highlights for mature height and spread, or filter results based on your preferred size.

Eastern White Cedar is actually a nickname for Thuja occidentalis. Western Arborvitae is Thuja plicata and is sometimes called Western Red Cedar. Both are native to North America.

Towering Green Giant Arborvitae boosts the livability of your backyard in a crowded suburban area. Use as a large-scale hedge, or plant one as a strategic specimen to block the view from a neighbor's second-story window.

North Pole® Arborvitae is a superior mid-sized variety. They'll fit beautifully in modern lots — even in tight side yards — and make excellent hedges.

What's Amazing About Our Cedar Trees for Sale?

First, our Cedar trees for sale are disease-resistant, long-lived and put up with strong wind. People regularly weave them into their windbreaks and shelterbelts.

Cedars also produce natural oils that are toxic to insects and fungi. In windy, low-humidity climates, place them outside the defensible area of your home as part of good Firescaping design.

The natural oils do have a very pleasant aroma, just one of the reasons Cedar wood is so beloved. Woodworkers appreciate their qualities for moth-resistant chests and paneling for closets; it's also well-known as a weather-resistant wood.

Evergreen Cedar trees are widely adaptable. Thuja Arborvitae excels in moist climates. Deodar Cedrus and Cryptomeria both put up with dry areas.

Create Songbird Shelter with Cedar Trees

The densely-held growth of Cedar trees offers shelter for birds. Native Eastern Red Cedar tree is in the Juniper family and provides easy-care wildlife support in the right area.

Use it with our extensive Oak catalog, Chickasaw Plum, and Viburnum shrubs for a hard-working food forest on timbered eastern recreational properties. Manage it on open range, as it is a pioneer species.

Although they are Junipers, these false types of Cedar trees are commonly called Eastern Red Cedar. Young trees become drought-tolerant over time and are moderately fast-growing.

Cedar Tree Screens for Privacy

Cedar Trees are long-lived, which is one of the reasons they are used extensively in windbreaks and as individual specimens. Learn More About All Things Cedar >>

Plant a series of them as a boundary tree along your property line. Cedar trees are quite dense and make excellent privacy trees.

Evergreen Cedar trees are hardy and easy to grow in a variety of soils. You'll look forward to their wonderful Cedar aroma, and so will the songbirds in your neighborhood.

Check out the different types of Cedar trees for sale right here, whether you’re looking for a true Cedar or an alternative. Either way, you’ll enjoy tracked shipping right to your doorstep.
