Plant Sentry™

Plant Sentry is designed to protect both consumers and the nursery trade from invasive plant pests and diseases. Sites that display the Plant Sentry protection badge are protected from consumers buying and nurseries shipping material carrying invasive pests and diseases.

This proprietary eCommerce software prevents the shipment of a restricted plant to each state. The Plant Sentry system includes a shipment certification program. The Plant Sentry Compliance Officer works closely with NatureHills.com and each nursery or fulfillment center to ensure only compliant plants are sold to customers.

Delivery and Shipping

Shipping

To obtain a more accurate shipment time-frame, simply enter your zip code in the “Find Your Growing Zone” box to the right. Our plants are grown all over the country and lead time on items may be different because of this. Once your order is placed, you will also receive the specific shipment time-frame information as part of your order confirmation. Once an item ships, you will receive shipment notification and tracking numbers, so you can follow along while your plant travels to your doorstep. We use FedEx, UPS, or USPS at our discretion.

Due to winter weather we have put a hold on shipping to the areas shown below in grey. You can still order now and we will ship the plant to you during an appropriate time for your zone.

*If you have found your zone already, it will be highlighted in the table below.

The sweet and petite Wee Willie® Dwarf Korean Boxwood PP#17007 (Buxus sinica var. insularis 'Wee Willie') was introduced in 1990 as a true dwarf broadleaf evergreen. It never grows bigger than two feet high or wide and can even be heavily sheared or pruned smaller yet!

These little shrubs do have tiny flowers that bees love but you may not notice them. The glossy fine-textured foliage is lush and densely growing with light green new growth and dark green mature coloration that lasts through the entire winter, the heat of the sun, and the winter chill.

Despite being so "wee", this little Boxwood rarely shudders at harsh winters! The leaves stay emerald green year-round, shockingly beautiful in the snow. Wee Willie® Boxwoods are really tough-as-nails plants, needing no pruning or special attention once they are established and providing an interesting texture wherever you plant them.

Planting and Application:

Formally sheared or naturally grown, Boxwood looks great either way! Do you want to line a pathway or edge a garden bed with a hedge you can step over? Wee Willie® can do that! Do you have a zero-lot-line property but want something formal and green in the front yard? Wee Willie® fits the bill!

Can you spit a watermelon seed from one side of your yard to the other? Wee Willie® nestles into the smallest garden or container garden with ease! Tiny sunny courtyards, planter boxes on balconies, postage stamp backyards, or to add greenery to the front of the garden border, these dwarf Korean Boxwood are up to the task!

Create a finishing touch along the front of landscaping beds with Wee Willie® as an edging plant, or a ribbon of greenery wandering through the garden border! Create low hedges, plant rows as facer plants that hide leggy bare stems of larger shrubs and hedges, and form low property division along paths, and driveways, and visually divide your front yard from the street, dwarf Boxwoods shine!

  • Emerald Green Fine-Textured Leaves
  • Hardy Broadleaved Evergreen Foliage
  • True Dwarf Compact Form
  • Great In Containers & Planters
  • Edging, Low Hedges, Miniature Bonsai & Topiary & Small-Scale Specimens

#ProPlantTips for Care:

Korean Boxwood shrubs do best in full sun or light shade and must have well-drained soil with regular fertility. New plants need regular moisture access but once established, Boxwood only needs supplemental moisture during drought and hot summer sun! Support this root development by planting with Nature Hills Root Booster, and protect your investment with a 3-4 inch deep layer of mulch over the entire soil system.

It is recommended you water these shrubs very well in the fall to prepare them for winter.

Dwarf Boxwood can be sheared but grows slowly and neatly enough that you don't have to prune it very often. It is best to prune or shear right after the first flush of growth in the spring. Boxwood are rarely bothered by deer, rabbits, or pests.

  • Full Sun & Some Partial Shade
  • Moderate Moisture Needs
  • Any Well-Drained Soil Type
  • Prune After the First Flush of Growth
  • Easy Care, Deer, Rabbit & Pest Resistant

Whether your yard is the size of the White House lawn or the size of a postage stamp, Wee Willy® Korean Bowood will provide a crisp, never-think-twice-about-it landscape addition! Order yours today at Nature Hills Nursery!
