Sensational Sedum Plants For Sale At Nature Hills

Sedum plants are hardy perennial, and quite drought-tolerant once established! Xeric and adaptable, there are hundreds of species of Sedums and they are widely grown because of the ease of care!

SedumSedum foliage is attractive during the growing season and many of these plants are adorned with beautiful flowers in early fall. Also known as Stonecrop, Sedums are left standing during winter months and the plant stalks add a vibrant appearance to a winter landscape! Along with a beautiful plant, the added benefit of Sedums is the butterflies they will attract.

Hardy perennial Sedums thrive throughout USDA growing zones 3 to 9 and handle sun, drought, heat, and chill! The fleshy leaves of both forms of Sedum hold moisture and are perfect for highlighting the star-shaped flower clusters!

Using Sedums In Your Garden

This is one of the most exciting and hardy garden perennials that you can plant in your garden. Low-growing Sedum plants are used for mass plantings, edging, and as spillers throughout the garden, while more upright and mounding Sedums are fantastic individual ornamental specimens!

Sedum LeavesSedum offers spring, summer, and fall interest and are very versatile in the landscape and can be used as groundcovers, in Rock Garden or xeric landscaping areas, Cottage Gardens, in mixed Perennial borders and beds, spilling over the edges of hanging baskets and planters, and as late-season flowering landscape fillers.

For a short, seasonal display, simply pop the growing container directly into your ornamental pots. This makes an easy-peasy change out from your summer look right into an autumn-themed container. Cut flowers of taller varieties can last for weeks in your flower arrangements. Even the dark dried flower stems are fantastic in dried arrangements or for use in your fall and winter pots or décor

Caring For Sedum

Place them in an area in the house that gets 4 or more hours of direct sunlight or more than 12 hours of strong artificial light. Most Sedums should be planted in full sun to partial shade and in well-drained soil.

This perennial will tolerate most soil types and is very drought-resistant. It actually prefers drier soil! In fact, plants that are grown in rich, moist soils may produce heavy, weaker growth that flops as the flower heads develop.

Be sure to leave the stems and flowers on the plant standing, even after a frost comes. In the meantime, Sedum is really wonderful in winter! The seed heads turn a dark brown color and remain rigid and erect to catch and sculpt the snow all winter long. You'll love this fantastic addition to your winter garden. It's easy enough to do a quick cleanup in early spring - Just cut the dried stems down to the ground.
