Where to Plant

Watering Requirements

Keep the soil consistently moist, but never soggy, especially during the first growing season while the roots establish. Once settled, they can handle brief dry spells, but inconsistent watering often leads to drooping leaves and crispy brown edges. A 2 to 3-inch layer of mulch is excellent for retaining soil moisture and keeping the roots cool.

Pruning Tips

Wait until early spring to cut the old foliage back to the ground, just before the new green growth begins to poke through the soil. Since September Charm blooms on new wood, clearing away the previous year's debris gives the fresh stems plenty of space and airflow to develop strong flower stalks. Think of it as clearing the stage before the main performance begins in late summer.

Fertilizer Needs
