Description

  • The ultimate starter plant food, applied at planting time to minimize transplant loss and help new trees, shrubs, perennials, flowers, and vegetables establish fast
  • Enhanced with beneficial microbes, mycorrhizae, and humates that colonize the root zone and produce large, deep root systems quickly
  • 100% natural and organic approved with no sludges and no fillers, safe around people, pets, and pollinators
  • Slow-release 4-3-3 NPK formula feeds gradually without burning tender new roots
  • Made in Espoma's solar-powered manufacturing facility for guaranteed consistency and quality
  • The perfect partner for every Nature Hills tree, shrub, rose, perennial, and fruit shipment

Most starter fertilizers just feed. Bio-tone Starter Plus does that and inoculates the root zone with living mycorrhizal fungi, a plant-fungus partnership proven to drive deeper roots, bigger blooms, and significantly faster establishment in the first season. If you are investing in plants, this is the easiest insurance policy you can buy.

How one 5 oz packet works:

Each packet holds approximately 1 cup of granular formula, the exact amount Espoma recommends for one new container plant up to size #2. For larger containers or beds, simply add more packets to your cart and follow the rates below.

How many packets you need:

Plant Size Packets Needed
Quart Container 1 packet
#1 Container 1 packet
#2 Container 1 packet
#3 Container 2 packets
#5 Container 2 packets
#7 Container 3 packets
Flower beds 13 packets per 100 square feet
Bulbs 1 teaspoon per bulb (about 45 bulbs per packet)

How to apply:

  • Trees and shrubs: mix the packet contents into the backfill soil used to fill the planting hole
  • Planting beds: blend into the top 4 to 6 inches of soil before planting
  • Bulbs: place 1 teaspoon per bulb in the hole prior to planting
  • Potting mixes: stir thoroughly into the soil mix before planting
