Sunlight: This hydrangea thrives in partial shade, specifically receiving morning sun followed by dappled afternoon shade. While it can handle more sun in cooler climates, four to six hours of morning light ensures the most intense red-pink flower color without wilting the foliage.
Soil: Aim for moist, well-drained soil rich in organic matter. If you have heavy clay, mix in some compost to improve drainage, as "wet feet" or standing water will lead to root rot and poor growth.

Watering Requirements

During the first two growing seasons, provide one inch of water per week to help the root system expand. Once established, this variety is relatively sturdy but still requires deep soaking twice a week during summer dry spells to prevent the blooms from crisping or drooping. Inconsistent moisture often results in smaller flower heads and premature leaf drop.

Pruning Tips

Wee Bit Giddy® blooms on "old wood," meaning the flower buds for next year are formed during the current summer. Only prune immediately after the flowers fade in late summer to avoid cutting off next year’s display. Think of this like a light grooming rather than a heavy cut; simply remove the spent blooms and any dead wood to keep the plant tidy and vigorous.

Fertilizer Needs

Apply a balanced, slow-release fertilizer in early spring as new growth appears to fuel the season's intense blooming. Avoid high-nitrogen fertilizers after mid-summer because they encourage soft, green growth that won't harden off properly before the first frost, leaving the plant vulnerable to winter damage.

A true mophead, Wee Bit Giddy® develops good-sized clusters of blooms that return all summer into fall!

Wee Bit Giddy® keeps to a neat and tidy 24 inches in height and 30 inches in width. The vibrant red-violet blooms appear in acidic conditions and sometimes purple depending on your soil's pH. Adding garden lime to your soil will make your soil more alkaline.

Hydrangea prefers full sun in cooler climates and loves afternoon shade in hotter growing zones. Provide an evenly moist but well-drained soil that’s very well enriched. Let’s dance Moonlight bloom regularly - blue

Let’s dance Moonlight have bloomed regularly for about 10 yrs now against the house, mostly north exposure. Originally pink flowers when purchased but transitioned to purple and now blue in our soil. 3’ in ht. When nearby grass was limed they reverted to pinkish purple then back to mostly blue. We are zone 6b and with recent Very hot dry summers they wilt with the brief afternoon sun they get. Unfortunate. May have to consider moving them if these conditions continue every year. Otherwise very pleased with them

To protect the roots of the Hydrangea tree from harsh freeze-thaw cycles over the winter, apply a thick, 4- to 6-inch layer of mulch (like shredded bark or wood chips) around the base of the trunk, extending out to the drip line.
