Cheerful blooms, the Proven Winners® ColorChoice® Wee Bit Giddy® Bigleaf Hydrangea (Hydrangea macrophylla 'SMNHML') is a new and exciting little flowering shrub with reblooming, intense red flowers! It will add robust durability in neutral to alkaline soils with very little fussing over and maintenance!
With a compact, neat dwarf growth habit, this tiny wonder features broad toothy foliage that’s got the classic quilted look of its larger Bigleaf cousins. These dark green leaves are the perfect foil for the green buds that open into beautiful vibrant flower clusters! A true mophead, Wee Bit Giddy® develops good-sized clusters of blooms that return all summer into fall!
Wee Bit Giddy® keeps to a neat and tidy 24 inches in height and 30 inches in width. The vibrant red-violet blooms appear in acidic conditions and sometimes purple depending on your soil's pH. Adding garden lime to your soil will make your soil more alkaline.
Planting and Application:
Wee Bit Giddy® is a perfect size and shape for creating low informal hedges and edging! Create low screening and property division with rows of these fantastic little plants! Run along the front of larger foundation shrubs for a vivid pop of curb appeal! Intersperse among larger mixed-shrub and perennial borders to benefit from the long bloom time of these bright mophead blossoms!
Bigleaf Hydrangea are fantastic pollinator gardens and cutting border blooms! Plant a few extra so everyone can enjoy these flowers indoors and out! Perfect for containers in warmer climates, you can add these flowering shrubs onto your porch, patio, or even a balcony planting in partly sunny areas!

#ProPlantTips for Care:
Hydrangea prefers full sun in cooler climates and loves afternoon shade in hotter growing zones. Provide an evenly moist but well-drained soil that’s very well enriched. Then cover the soil with a thick layer of mulch. Prune out old flower heads and winter dieback in early spring as they start to grow, leaving young stems to rebloom.
- Full Sun & Partial Shade
- Moist, Enriched Well-Drained Soil
- Durable & Hardy Zones 5 - 9
- Color Change in Acid Soils
- Prune in Early Spring & Mulch Well
Durable and cute as can be, the Wee Bit Giddy® Bigleaf Hydrangea from Proven Winners® ColorChoice® will brighten your landscape without overpowering your garden!
