Easy drama with dramatic coloration that brings dimension and depth! Get a huge dose of late summer garden drama with this low-maintenance, high-performance plant! Part of the SUMMERIFIC® line, this selection features a compact habit and outstanding blooms with Intense, deep pink veining and a bold, red eye.
Start planning your late summer and fall parties now. The Proven Winners® SUMMERIFIC® Cherry Choco Latte Hardy Hibiscus (Hibiscus moscheutos 'Cherry Choco Latte') for visual impact at a time when other flowering plants have wound down for the season. These plants will be noticed in your late-season landscape. Give them a position front and center, where you'll fully appreciate the massive pink-blend flowers. They are the size of dinner plates!
This hybrid selection of native Rose Mallow forms a compact clump with flowers covering the entire plant. The blooms are a rich nectar source for local butterfly populations. Attractive, dark olive-green foliage has bronze highlights and forms a wonderful contrast to the large, round flowers. Let it shine for you and your guests until autumn!
Cherry Choco Latte replaces the much-loved Cherry Cheesecake with larger flowers and an improved performance all the way around. Even though the flowers are full-sized the plant is more compact than other Hardy Hibiscus, so it will fit into smaller gardens much better. Perfect for the trend to smaller urban gardens.
Try these fabulous garden plants to accent your late summer scene. You'll relish the tropical ambiance from the lush foliage and enormous blooms! Hardy throughout USDA growing zones 4 to 9 and only growing 3-4 feet tall and wide at maturity!
Planting and Application:
This is a perfect plant for beginners with an easy-care nature. Of course, even enthusiasts with filled-to-bursting gardens will need to find a place for these incredible specimen plants. Use them in the front yard to turn heads and slow traffic down. Just get ready for questions and compliments!
They both have gigantic blooms, but the colorway and styling are so different. Repeat their use in your mixed borders or use groupings to maximize their color impact. They'll shine next to other flowering sun perennials. Use them as a cheeky contrast to blooming Mophead Hydrangeas.
The unique coloration looks great at a distance too! The brilliant pink petals with contrasting veining and a notably large red eye will stand out, even at a distance. Commercial property owners, take note! This plant brings attention to your business!
Create a special display in late summer and early fall with several used as a "Thriller" role in the planting. Change out your faded early-season display on the pool deck, or patio with a big pop of color to keep your location looking fresh. Their smaller size makes it easy to pop into large containers flanking either side of your front entrance.

#ProPlantTips for Care:
This is a perfect plant for newbie gardeners. Hardy Hibiscus are low-maintenance and tolerates a lot of different growing conditions. Provide a sheltered spot to protect against the worst of the winds. You won't want those precious blooms to get tattered or torn! Hibiscus does love the sun, but this variety can also perform well with afternoon shade. They'll need at least 4 hours of sunlight a day, so study your site to see where you'll plant them.
They do best in moist, yet well-drained soil, and will put up with a little drought and can handle the occasional puddle. Keep them watered regularly, especially if you are using them as container plants. Add a 3-inch layer of mulch over the root systems to keep it nice and cool.
Keep this rock star tidy by removing spent flowers after they are finished. In early spring, trim back each of the woody stems right to the ground. In late spring, you'll be so excited to see the new stems emerge from the roots. Be patient with these late starters! They'll grow right back to amaze you and your friends once again.
- Full Sun & Partial Shade
- Average Well-Drained Soil
- Appreciates Regular Moisture Until Established
- Deadhead After Flowers Fade
- Dies To The Ground Each Winter - Prune Early Spring
