Growing Zones 3-9
With this special improved variety, you can add these charming plants no matter if your color scheme is a riotous mix of colors or more sedate. Pristine white petals of PowWow® White Coneflower (Echinacea purpurea 'PAS702918') add a stunning look to your garden.
You'll love the bold look of our beautiful native Echinacea cultivars. The thick, well-formed flowers stand proudly on sturdy stems and have a long bloom time from mid-summer through fall! These plants are compact but deliver a huge amount of flower power. They feature a pronounced, high, golden-yellow cone surrounded by pure white petals.
These hardy plants perform beautifully all across the United States and support the nectar needs of butterflies. They'll have plenty of blooms to feast from!
This special variety starts blooming faster than others, but stays shorter. Try them as an icy complement to your mid-summer and fall garden. You will be cutting as many as can to bring inside for cunning little cut flower arrangements! Don't worry, they will be constantly replaced with more shining white flowers.
Be sure to leave a few of the dried flowers to dry and stand in place for wintertime. That's when the birds come a-pecking at the dried seed heads. Gain a snow-capped architectural winter feature!
PowWow® White Coneflowers are very hardy and dependable perennials. They will perform well in gardens throughout USDA planting zones 3 to 9, year after year, getting stronger and more beautiful each year! Super hardy and easy to grow, make sure that you save room for these gorgeous native plants.
Planting and Application:
Use these elegantly cheerful perennials as a wonderful foil for other colors! Try them behind colorful blooming groundcovers at the edge of your border. Try them in large exterior containers, too. Use them as a single species, or add "Spillers" to the edges of your container to soften the look.
Or, boost the look of silvery Evergreens or Ornamental Grasses with a long foreground filled with PowWow® White. They stay compact enough for the front of the landscaping bed and can be a beautiful facer plant to leggy shrubs with bare stems!
They look great in all-white Moon Gardens, too. Add to a restful palette and enjoy the respite. Their rugged form contrasts well with the rounded flower heads of Annabelle Hydrangea. For a festive prairie-style planting, add Black Eyed Susans and PowWow® Wild Berry Coneflowers. The pure white flower petals will set off the hot colors of the other flower heads like no other.
Use them as a cheerful mass planting. Space these herbaceous perennials 12 inches apart on center, measuring from the center of one to the center of the next.
Tolerating harsh locations in the sun, handling poor soil, and periodic drought, making them fantastic in the hell-strip along the road or sidewalk, in Rock Gardens, or in a Xeric garden with Prairie Grasses and other prairie wildflowers. Include them in your Fire-Wise landscaping plan!
- Pure White Petals & Spikey Yellow Raised Centers
- Great Cut Flowers & Bird-Friendly
- Wonderful Nectar Source - Butterflies & Helpful Pollinators
- Blooms for Months - Stays Small & Compact
- Suits Many Garden Styles, Containers, Xeric & Fire-Wise Landscaping
#ProPlantTips for Care:
Give them full sun, well-drained soil, and a moderate amount of water for the very best blooms. They are very forgiving and might be a perfect plant for a new homeowner just getting started as a gardener. This delightful, sun-loving plant is winter-hardy, heat and drought-tolerant, and easy to grow!
If you've left your herbaceous perennials plantings to stand over the winter, just cut the stalks to an inch above ground level in early spring. Keep the flowers deadheaded to greatly increase the flowering. Other than that, PowWow® White Coneflowers are almost maintenance-free. Echinacea is a native species that does well in most of the country with very little care, and these cultivars are just as easy to grow.
