Although this is a petite vine, it develops a liberal covering of enchanting, full-size amethyst blooms in late spring through early summer. The display repeats in a welcome second flush for fall color.
Each impossibly pretty blossom features a ruffled margin that flips to reveal a silvery-white reverse. You could look at this plant all day long without growing tired of its seductive charms!
Decorate your patio with their broad sepals cast in deliciously dark purple surrounding an eye-catching boss of long stamens. Look to the pink-tipped anthers for another delightful hint of color.
Lavish, star-shaped sepals come to a distinct point. Even in an extensive Clematis collection, you'll never overlook their mysterious visual impact.
Butterflies appreciate the pretty blooms for another reason. These darling, nectar-rich flowers become a valuable addition to Butterfly Gardens—and they entice beneficial pollinators to annual Salsa and Victory Gardens, too.

How to Use Flora™ Bijou™ Clematis in the Landscape
Perfectly sized for small space gardens, this versatile compact plant can be grown in a pot, or in the ground. If you want a vertical accent, we recommend that you set up the support structure before planting to avoid disturbing their roots once they are in the soil.
Use a short, sturdy trellis for their leaf stems to wrap around. If the structure is too wide, simply wrap it in wide-mesh netting first.
Add the support in the center of outdoor containers, then place your Bijou nearby. Enjoy the gentle process of training your climber to clamber high.
Keep several in a curated collection of garden containers for a meaningful focal point. This would make a fantastic addition to an outdoor Meditation Garden...go ahead and gift yourself some time spent in mindful contemplation.
Clematis love partners, so pair them with other Pruning Type 2 Clematis for an easy maintenance schedule. Contrast them with an Alaina Clematis or coordinate with Bernadine... it's nearly impossible to go wrong with any combination.
If you have ground to fill, use this mounding plant to create showy splashes of deep color as a ground cover. Edge your mixed garden beds with a bold ribbon of Bijou planted two feet apart.
Let them spill as they will to blur the boundaries of your bed in a thrilling Cottage Garden. Life is short...don't take things too seriously in your private landscape!
Place them at the base of garden ornaments to help draw the eye towards your investment. These romantic, ruffled blooms would suit a small statue of a garden fairy down to the ground, wouldn't they?
Go fanciful, while hiding some of the more utilitarian aspects of your yard. Jazz up a chain link fence with a collection of Clematis woven into the panels as a showy espalier.
You can even use Bijou Clematis as a stunning hanging basket. Pair them with one of the new trailing Bushel & Berry® Sapphire Cascade® Blueberries for a delightful and delectable display that looks amazing all growing season long.
#ProPlantTips for Care
Clematis Bijou is a dependable Clematis that will do well in either full sun or light shade. If you live in sweltering climates, try to provide some afternoon shade.
Clematis roots won't tolerate standing water, and require well-drained soil. If you have sticky soil that stays soggy after a rainfall...keep them in containers or add additional soil in a planting mound.
Be patient with your new Clematis as their roots must work first to get established. Cherish your plants with Nature Hills Root Booster!
Simply follow directions during the planting process. Gift the tiny feeder roots symbiotic ingredients like mycorrhizal fungus that work tirelessly to support healthy growth.
Place a three-inch layer of mulch around the crown of your vine. Pull it back away from directly touching the stems.
Apply a moderate amount of water on a consistent basis for best results. Don't let container-grown plants get too dry...water regularly and allow the excess to drain away.
Prune lightly in early spring. Trim off any weak or dead growth back above a pair of live, swelling buds...typically leaving about eight inches of growth from last year.
You deserve these amazing flowers in your life. Place your order for the highly desirable Flora Bijou Clematis today!
