Yarrow plants are easy to grow and they provide flattened flower clusters atop fragrant fern-like foliage. Yarrow comes in a variety of colors including white, yellow, pink, and red.

Caring For Yarrow
Yarrow handles hot humid conditions and is a hardy herbaceous perennial that needs full sun and fast-draining soil. New plants should be watered regularly and not allowed to dry out completely. Deep waterings are better than frequent surface waterings, encouraging the roots to delve deep into the ground for moisture, and making them more resilient in the long run.
- Yarrow should be planted in full sun
- Average to poor soil conditions and well-drained locations
- Top-dress with a 3-4 inch deep layer of arborist mulch
- Deadhead faded flowers to encourage rebloom
- Yarrow will spread quickly so it is a good idea to Divide the mounds every 3-4 years
- Prune last year's stems to clean up the crown in early spring
Yarrow has been used in the past for medicinal purposes. Available literature tells of Yarrow being used for severe colds, slowing blood flow from wounds, and treating fevers. This pretty herb looks beautiful in kitchen gardens and herb gardens in the sun!
