This grass takes the idea of an ombre to the next level. Each blade of Sunflare™ starts out as bright lime green with a tinge of golden yellow. As the grass emerges from the center, the tips begin to take on a darker and darker shade until finally, it ends a deep maroon.
Checking this plant out for the first time, you can't help but think maybe it was going for a dipped-tip hair (or perhaps grass) style! We must say its bold color choice is superb and certainly paid off.
Sunflare tends to keep itself fairly close to the ground when growing, but that doesn't make it any less spectacular. You'll find that it grows unique cascading foliage, giving it a distinct wave feel that would impress even the most seasoned surfers.
Go ahead and plant this personality-packed Ornamental Grass just about anywhere as it's not usually enjoyed by the local deer and wildlife.
As fall approaches, this warm-season grass will take on tones of orange and red, just to keep things interesting.
The graceful arching of Sunflare™ Japanese Forest Grass's blades, those eye-catching colors, and its easy-to-care-for nature are just a few of the reasons this grass is a go-to for new gardeners and expert landscapers alike.
Don't wait for another growing season to come and go, order a Sunflare™ Japanese Forest Grass for your own garden today! You won't regret it!
How to Use Sunflare™ Japanese Forest Grass in the Landscape
Bring the color of the tropics to you, no matter where you live with some well-placed Sunflare™ grasses. They can be used in just about any way imaginable!
Try edging your other garden beds with this grass to create a border worthy of being the centerpiece itself. Its growth habit is low enough that it won't overtake any of your pretty perennials planted behind it.
You can also use the grass as an excellent accent plant inside your perennial gardens. They'll compliment purples and reds perfectly!
The way that this Ornamental Grass grows also makes it a stunning addition to your patio containers. Or maybe planted in sets in red or orange pots on either side of your doorway. It can act as either the spiller or the thriller, depending on what you pair it with.
Of course, the most dramatic way to add Sunflare™ to your garden is as a mass planting. If you have a large area, create a majestic sea of yellows spotted with red. The neighbors will stare in awe all season long!
If you have a smaller garden or like the cottage style, consider weaving this ornamental grass through a woodland edge for pops of color against the stone or grass.
#ProPlantTips For Care
While Sunflare™ is extremely easy to care for and keep alive, there are a few guidelines for the best results and color. Don't worry though, even those are easy!
The most important factor determining this ornamental grass's happiness is the amount of sun it gets. Plant it somewhere in full sun so it can bask in the rays all day long. This will also give it the best coloring.
That being said, partial shade works quite well at keeping this plant healthy. So it's certainly not a deal-breaker.
You'll also want to be cognizant of the soil you're planting in. Well-drained soils mean Sunflare™ won't have to sit in standing water. No one wants to have feet wet all day and neither does Sunflare.
If you're looking for added aesthetic, you can always add a layer of mulch around your plant. Not only does it make the garden bed look cleaner, but it'll also help you conserve water and keep the plant cool on the hottest of summer days.
Should pruning be something you'd like to try your hand at with Sunflare, simply do so in the early spring. That way, you don't inhibit the season's new growth. Make sure those shears are nice and sharp for the cleanest cuts. Be patient with warm-season grasses since they can be a little slow to start in spring but really shine once temperatures are just right!
Ornamental grasses are arguably some of the most versatile tools you have as a gardener as they can be used in a multitude of ways. Sunflare™ Japanese Forest Grass is no exception, order yours today from our expert growers here at Nature Hills Nursery!
