Delivery and Shipping
Shipping
To obtain a more accurate shipment time-frame, simply enter your zip code in the “Find Your Growing Zone” box to the right. Our plants are grown all over the country and lead time on items may be different because of this. Once your order is placed, you will also receive the specific shipment time-frame information as part of your order confirmation. Once an item ships, you will receive shipment notification and tracking numbers, so you can follow along while your plant travels to your doorstep. We use FedEx, UPS, or USPS at our discretion.
Due to winter weather we have put a hold on shipping to the areas shown below in grey. You can still order now and we will ship the plant to you during an appropriate time for your zone.

Finally, a perennial that can tolerate occasionally wet soils! Introducing the Proven Winners® ColorChoice® Starship Deep Rose Lobelia (Lobelia speciosa 'Starship Deep Rose') shoots up and stands out in every way you can imagine! From the Starship Series, this Lobelia brings on mid-summer deep reddish-pink-colored flower spikes that are a real shock of color in the garden!
The dramatically dark green foliage displays brooding plum-purple accents and grows very well-branched and full! The knockout bright deep rose blooms attract tons of bees, and butterflies and are irresistible to hummingbirds all summer long and even into the autumn!
Also known as Cardinal Flower, Deep Rose Lobelia grows 20-24 inches in height when in full bloom and creates a vertical column of dark burgundy-purple stems and vibrant pink flowers. These upright plants can mature to a 12-24 inch spread.
Planting and Application:
Lobelia are prime pollinator garden plants and must-haves in the cut flower garden! Their vertical form stand bolt upright to add dramatic texture and color anywhere in the sun or part shade border. Modern Cottage gardens and perennial borders along walkways and paths gain a huge following of winged visitors and they're certain to catch the eye of anyone walking by! Starship, therefore, is perfect for mailbox and driveway plantings, lights up a garden at the foot of your front steps, or stands tall in front entry planters!
Starship Deep Rose Cardinal Flower can tolerate higher moisture and occasional wet sites, so it's ideal to use on the outskirts of a Rain garden, or in a Gutter Garden! Plant around a water feature or small pond for the beneficial insects and dragonflies to land on, or near the banks of a stream or brook. Deep Rose Cardinal Flower is even wonderful as the main thriller in a modern black or dark gray planter or fancy patio Urn to command attention!

#ProPlantTips for Care:
Perennial Lobelia grows in both full sun and partial shade, preferring afternoon shade in the hottest of its favored USDA growing zones 6 t o10. It will need at least four hours of sunlight a day for the most flowering and the best color. This plant requires a higher amount of moisture for best performance, so water regularly and do not let dry out. Adding a 3-4 inch layer of mulch over the top of the root zones in average garden soil helps considerably to maintain moisture levels. Give it supplemental water in times of drought. We recommend that you trim off the spent flower heads as soon as they fade, but allow the dried foliage to stand over winter for protection. Wait until early spring to do light cleanup and trimming of spent leaves.
- Full Sun & Partial Shade
- Moderate to High Moisture Needs - Can Tolerate Occasionally Wet Soil
- Well-Drained Soil Best
- Deadhead After Flowers Fade & Prune Late Fall
- Seldom Bothered by Deer & Rabbits
