Shipping
To obtain a more accurate shipment time-frame, simply enter your zip code in the “Find Your Growing Zone” box to the right. Our plants are grown all over the country and lead time on items may be different because of this. Once your order is placed, you will also receive the specific shipment time-frame information as part of your order confirmation. Once an item ships, you will receive shipment notification and tracking numbers, so you can follow along while your plant travels to your doorstep. We use FedEx, UPS, or USPS at our discretion.
Due to winter weather we have put a hold on shipping to the areas shown below in grey. You can still order now and we will ship the plant to you during an appropriate time for your zone.

One of the best re-blooming Weigela varieties you'll find! Like a resounding BOOM in the landscape, this gorgeous Weigela variety explodes onto the scene with a burst of color! The Sonic Bloom® Red Reblooming Weigela (Weigela florida SONIC BLOOM 'Verweig-6') is a fantastic offering from the gardens of Proven Winners® ColorChoice®! Each tiny blossom bursts into radiant red blooms in May and doesn't stop until the first frost!
The multitude of blooms appear in May, clustered along the branches in such profusion of flowers that your shrub will, at times, appear to be nothing more than a mound of colorful blooms. Then you enjoy a rebloom again, and again! Much to the delight of your pollinators and beneficial insects! Forming along the upright, gently arching branches, the brilliant blossoms appear singly or in clusters, a dramatic show against the dark green foliage.
As the flowers recede and rebloom, you'll begin to notice the dramatic, dark green foliage that fills out the few spaces between the blossoms - which continue to rebloom until the first frost! Sonic Bloom® doesn't need deadheading and provides a remarkable show - from spring through fall! Hardy throughout USDA growing zones 5 to 8, there is little that fazes this adaptable shrub! It's quite simply one of the easiest shrubs you can own that will still provide you with long-lasting color.
Planting and Application:
Your Sonic Bloom® Red Weigela is a very dense shrub with a mounded nature! It’s perfect for foundation plantings that bump up the curb appeal with three seasons of color! Create vivid backdrops and ornamental hedges along an outbuilding with these mid-sized flowering bushes! Get ready with your camera, because pollinators and Hummingbirds will flock to your Sonic Bloom®, but deer will pass it by. Try creating a flowering hedge that screens your front yard from the sidewalk for just a touch of pretty privacy!
Mix and match Red with other Sonic Bloom® Weigela for a varied mixed border in front of a hedge or dark evergreens for a dramatic display! Overall, it's a very hardy shrub that works well in containers or even just planted singly for a strong accent in your yard. Snip a few blooms for your cut flower arrangements, or just enjoy the flowers all growing season in your porch planters and adorning your driveway.

#ProPlantTips for Care:
Sonic Bloom® shrubs are adaptable to a variety of soils, urban tolerant, and long-lived! Plant in full sun for the best color. Weigela shrubs do best in at least six hours a day, with eight or more just improving the color and quality. Doing best in average garden soils, Weigela enjoys moderate moisture levels. Weigela does need well-drained soils but is not particular on the soil type. A generous layer of mulch helps retain soil moisture in the ground as well as insulates the root system from heat and chill. Very easy to grow and fuss-free, Weigela can be late to leaf out in spring, so be patient if you don't see signs of life on your shrub.
Weigela won't need much pruning, or deadheading to trigger a rebloom. However, if you wish to give them some pruning, just be sure to do it right after that first spring flush of color. Weigela does benefit from a renewal pruning every few years, with the oldest stems removed that are not as productive to keep the shrub dense, loaded in blooms and lushly covered in foliage.
