Plant Sentry™

Plant Sentry is designed to protect both consumers and the nursery trade from invasive plant pests and diseases. Sites that display the Plant Sentry protection badge are protected from consumers buying and nurseries shipping material carrying invasive pests and diseases.

This proprietary eCommerce software prevents the shipment of a restricted plant to each state. The Plant Sentry system includes a shipment certification program. The Plant Sentry Compliance Officer works closely with NatureHills.com and each nursery or fulfillment center to ensure only compliant plants are sold to customers.

Delivery and Shipping

Shipping

To obtain a more accurate shipment time-frame, simply enter your zip code in the “Find Your Growing Zone” box to the right. Our plants are grown all over the country and lead time on items may be different because of this. Once your order is placed, you will also receive the specific shipment time-frame information as part of your order confirmation. Once an item ships, you will receive shipment notification and tracking numbers, so you can follow along while your plant travels to your doorstep. We use FedEx, UPS, or USPS at our discretion.

Due to winter weather we have put a hold on shipping to the areas shown below in grey. You can still order now and we will ship the plant to you during an appropriate time for your zone.

*If you have found your zone already, it will be highlighted in the table below.

Astonishing, true-red flower trusses cover Perfecto Mundo® Red Azalea (Rhododendron 'NCRX5') in showy clouds each spring. These sophisticated broad-leaved evergreen shrubs are heavy bloomers that feature incredible flower density from top to bottom!

As the growing season advances, you'll be treated to a second showing of vivid inflorescences blooming this time on new wood. Enjoy flushes of these vibrant flowers through fall with these modern marvels developed first by starting in midsummer and fall.

Planting and Application:

Perfecto Mundo Red Azalea has dark green foliage and dense, tidy spreading growth habit and disease resistance to common pests like lacebug. Originally developed at North Carolina State University and selected by Proven Winners®, this broad-leaved semi-evergreen shrub has passed rigorous field-testing for reliability and high-performance.

  • Red is a terrific choice to use in the landscape as a bold ribbon of color. Create a solid low hedge, or double and triple them up for an effective mass planting.
  • Space them three feet apart on center; measuring from the center of one to the center of the next. You'll have no need for a facer with this choice...it's fine to pull them close to the edge of your planting bed for a clean, modern look.
  • Mix them into Butterfly and Hummingbird Gardens to provide both nectar and shelter. Add with perennials like Columbine, Foam Flower, Hosta and Anemone for a season of flowering support in partial shade.
  • Some people like to use them as a Boxwood alternative. Imagine how decorative the "five alarm" red blooms will be in foundation plantings!
  • Underplant a garden sculpture with these attention-grabbing red blooms. They naturally draw the eye...why not put them to work to maximize your investment in art?

#ProPlantTips for Care:

Azaleas require well-drained soil with 4-6 hours of direct sunlight daily. In hot summer Zones 9 - 10, please give them afternoon shade.

  • Apply a three inch layer of pine straw over the root zone to keep them cool and moist; taking care to pull it away from directly touching the stems. Don't plant Azaleas too deeply...keep the soil at the same level they grew in at the nursery, or mound up to improve drainage.
  • Water on a regular basis to keep them stress-free during dry weather. Keep the surrounding area weeded; as their shallow, fibrous roots resent having nearby competition.
  • Prune after the first blooms are finished to shape them in spring. Apply a quality fertilizer designed for ericaceous flowering plants and follow the label instructions.
