Growing Zones 5-9
Tropical blooms and unusual color, the Proven Winners® ColorChoice® Paraplu Violet® Rose of Sharon (Hibiscus x 'Minsybv3s01') are radiant blooms with a unique sheen to their satellite flowers! Highlighted by deep red centers that streak and bleed into the petals, these wide trumpets form in clusters and bloom from the bottom up on their stems. Paraplu Violet® has a softer, looser, more graceful form that is not as stiff as other Rose of Sharon shrubs on the market.
Filling out loose, open and informal branching, the pointed maple leaf-like foliage is a lush green all summer into fall. This easy-care hybrid Rose of Sharon boasts extra-large flowers and positively extraordinary color - cool blue-violet blooms with an almost iridescent effect! Even though this hybrid is seedless, it still produces plenty of nectar to attract pollinators, Paraplu Violet® blooms for weeks on end, through the summer into the autumn, without you having to lift a finger!
These hardy Hibiscus family flowering shrubs are wonderfully cold-hardy and easy to grow and love! Growing throughout USDA hardiness zones 5 through 9 and forming sizeable shrubs 5 to 8 feet in height with a 4-5 foot spread at maturity, but you can keep yours pruned smaller as needed.
Planting and Application:
Paraplu Violet® Rose of Sharon are vibrant flowering shrubs for any sunny garden application you can think of! Then watch the butterflies and Hummingbirds check in!
Create informal hedges and shelterbelts for birds to nest in and draw pollinators in! You'll gain pretty screening and property definition, plus some privacy around your outdoor garden rooms! #ProPlantTips for Care:
Low-maintenance and seldom bothered by browsing deer, Rose of Sharon won't make you work hard in exchange for all those blooms! Thriving in full sun all day, these deciduous shrubs prefer moderate, regular moisture locations in enriched, well-drained soil. They also prefer a 3-4 inch thick layer of mulch over the roots. Apply a 3-4 inch thick layer of arborist pine bark mulch, extending out over the entire root system for the best moisture retention. Prune as needed in the early spring to control growth and keep their informal branching tidier. Renewal prune every 3-5 years to maintain flowering vigor, and remove suckers as needed to keep your shrub from spreading if desired.
- Full Sun & Partial Shade
- Enriched, Organic Well-Drained & Acidic Soil
- Even Regular Moisture Needs
- Seedless Hybrid Stays Put
- Easy-Care Native Deciduous Shrub
The Paraplu Violet® Rose of Sharon will add weeks of iridescent purple-blue blooms to your landscape with the easy care elegance you expect from these hardy Hibsicus family flowering shrubs! Order yours today at NatureHills.com before this new hybrid is gone!
Tree Form vs. Shrub Form
The details make all the difference in a garden. At Naturehills.com, we understand that little things like what form a plant is can greatly impact how you plan your landscape. So before you buy, don’t forget to check which form you’re getting.
Tree Form:
These are plants that have one stem coming from the ground. Plants can also be considered single stem when lower branches are removed to raise the height of the branching to a more desired height. Sometimes, you will hear a tree form referred to as a single stem.
Shrub Form:
These are bushy plants with many stems and branchings close to the ground. They are referred to as shrubs or bushes and are often shorter than their tree forms.
