This proprietary eCommerce software prevents the shipment of a restricted plant to each state. The Plant Sentry system includes a shipment certification program. The Plant Sentry Compliance Officer works closely with NatureHills.com and each nursery or fulfillment center to ensure only compliant plants are sold to customers.

Delivery and Shipping
Shipping
To obtain a more accurate shipment time-frame, simply enter your zip code in the “Find Your Growing Zone” box to the right. Our plants are grown all over the country and lead time on items may be different because of this. Once your order is placed, you will also receive the specific shipment time-frame information as part of your order confirmation. Once an item ships, you will receive shipment notification and tracking numbers, so you can follow along while your plant travels to your doorstep. We use FedEx, UPS, or USPS at our discretion.
Due to winter weather we have put a hold on shipping to the areas shown below in grey. You can still order now and we will ship the plant to you during an appropriate time for your zone.

Growing Zones 5-9
As you take that much-needed rest on your patio, your favorite drink in hand, gaze upon this gorgeous little plant with deep plum-violet flowers! Be ready to share her with your butterflies and hummingbirds! Lil' Kim® Violet Rose of Sharon (Hibiscus syriacus 'SHIMRV24') by Proven Winners® ColorChoice® is one of the most stunning little shrubs around! This is compact, 3-4 feet tall and wide, and will fit just about anywhere in your landscape.
Lil' Kim® is compact, vase-shaped and very elegant anywhere you plant her. The gorgeous plum-violet flowers are 3 inches across and adorned with a dark red throat. She blooms from summer to fall and each flower lasts for three days! The foliage is broadly ovate, starting out in late spring as pale yellow-green and then becoming dark green for summer. Fall turns the foliage to yellow for the final show of the season!
Hardy throughout USDA growing zones 5 to 9, these Tropical Hibiscus cousins are just as exotic as they are easy to grow and cold-hardy! Unlike other Althea Shrubs, Lil' Kim® Violet stays a small and tody 3-4 feet in height and width!
Planting and Application:
A single planting or a grouping becomes a magnificent specimen planting! So use the vivid flowers to call attention to a berm in your front yard, or call attention to your home when planted as a division between your yard and the sidewalk, or behind your mailbox!
Lil' Kim® Violet is perfect for sunny beds and borders, small gardens, and courtyards. Will be lovely as hedges and screen! This variety could be the perfect choice for use as screening all along the outside of your pool deck fencing. Place four feet apart on center, measuring from the center of one to the center of the next.
Plant as backdrops to your Rose gardens and Perennial beds, these blooms are fantastic when included in Cottage gardens, Cut flower gardens and Pollinator borders! Hummingbirds, bees and butterflies will arrive to sip the much-needed nectar and collect pollen!
No yard? Grow them as "Thrillers" in large outdoor containers. Finally gain privacy on your balcony with a hard-working, lovely, flowering backdrop.
- Stunning Plum-Colored Blooms & Red Eyes
- Smaller Space-Saving Size

#ProPlantTips for Care:
Lil' Kim® Violet loves to be planted in full sun to part shade but flower production is best in full sun. Plant Rose of Sharon in average moisture locations, in well-drained organically rich soil but will also tolerate poor soil. Tolerant of drought, urban conditions, heat and humidity, deer don't prefer this hardy shrub! A three-inch layer of arborist mulch over the root systems keeps them happy and cool. Reapply regularly, and it will work to improve the condition of your soil over time.
If you need to prune Lil' Kim®, prune back 2-3 buds in late winter or early spring to encourage larger blooms. You can prune Althea to shape them or reduce their height. We do recommend you allow them to fill out their naturally graceful full spread. Tidy them as you like, but shearing is perhaps a bit extreme.Renewal prune every 3-5 years to maintain vigor.
- Full Sun
- Any Kind of Well-Drained Soil
- Moderate Moisture Needs
- Appreciates Mulched Beds
- Low Maintenance & Spring Pruning
- Tolerates Salt & Deer Don't Prefer the Taste
Order your Little beauty, Proven Winners® ColorChoice® Lil' Kim® Violet Rose of Sharon from our experts at Nature Hills! You'll enjoy everything you love about Althea but in a neat and tidy, compact smaller form!
Tree Form vs. Shrub Form
The details make all the difference in a garden. At Naturehills.com, we understand that little things like what form a plant is can greatly impact how you plan your landscape. So before you buy, don't forget to check which form you're getting.
Tree Form:
These are plants that have one stem coming from the ground. Plants can also be considered single stem when lower branches are removed to raise the height of the branching to a more desired height. Sometimes, you will hear a tree form referred to as a single stem.
Shrub Form:
These are bushy plants with many stems and branchings close to the ground. They are referred to as shrubs or bushes and are often shorter than their tree forms.
