The Plant Sentry Compliance Officer works closely with NatureHills.com and each nursery or fulfillment center to ensure only compliant plants are sold to customers.

Cream edges all the way, a variety so great you can't help but exclaim "Wheee!" It's probably why this adorable perennial was given the name Wheee! Hosta (Hosta 'Wheee!'). Wheee! has amazing foliage that shows off its appealing colors. The light green leaves have cream-colored margins, and they extend from the tip all the way down the petiole to the crown.

The leaves themselves are an interesting sight to see as their edges ripple and ruffle slightly. Giving it added texture. This lovable leafy plant has more than just foliage to give though, in midsummer light lavender flowers appear on purple spikes. They'll shoot up from the foliage, giving the appearance that this Hosta has sprouted antenna!

Those antennae attract loads of hummingbirds and Pollinators to your garden! But, having excellent substance, the leaves are resistant to slugs. That's one less thing you'll have to worry about when planning your shade garden. Hardy throughout USDA growing zones 3 to 9 and reaching 12-18 inches and 28-30 inches wide at maturity, these are low-care perennials.

Planting and Application:

Wheee! is most at home in shady, woodland settings and often works well as a focal point or edging plant. The blooms add winged visitors to your shade gardens and look great as tall focal points in bouquets and floral arrangements.

These smaller perennials look great in containers and large planters as fillers, thrillers, and spillers! Playing in the shaded entertainment area, or on a covered porch and patio as unique and curious accents in the shade garden! Their low-growing nature means fantastic facer plants along the shaded side of a hedge or row of evergreen trees, beneath a tree canopy, or as skirting around larger shrubs that may have gotten leggy stems in their age.

  • Unique Ruffled, Wavy, Curvy Foliage
  • Light Green Leaves With Cream-Colored Edges
  • Pale Lavender Trumpet-Shaped Blooms on Tall Scapes
  • Hummingbirds, Butterflies & Bees & Great Cut Flowers
  • Edging, Containers, Specimens & Unique Texture

#ProPlantTips for Care:

Plant Wheee! Hostas as low-growing, low-care Perennial specimens in an area that receives the right amount of light. The leaves need some morning sun to bring out the best coloration; too much sun will burn the leaves. Hostas grow best in moist, well-drained, highly organic soils with a pH between 5.5 and 7.5. Sandy loam is better than clay because it provides more aeration for the roots. It is best to keep areas around Hostas clear of excess leaf debris to reduce the presence of slugs and snails. They do best with a 3-4 inch thick layer of arborist mulch chips to help hold in moisture. Deadhead as blooms fade, and prune back the foliage once it dies back in the fall. They appreciate being divided every 3-5 years.

  • Glows in Full Shade & Partial Sun/Afternoon Shade
  • Easy to Grow In A Wide Variety of Soil
  • Moderate Moisture Needs
  • Long-Lived & Low-Maintenance
  • Textured Foliage Resists Pests & Slugs
  • Very Cold Hardy & Heat Tolerant

Due to its versatility and ease of care, Wheee! Hostas are extremely popular perennials for all gardeners! Order one for your garden today from NatureHills.com!

Frequently Asked Questions

Do Hostas need full sun or shade?

Hosta does best in full sun in cooler climates but does appreciate afternoon protection from the worst of the summer sun, especially in the hottest of their growing zone range. In the hottest climates, Hosta like partial shade or dappled shade, and some varieties will do great in full shade.

Where do Hostas grow best?

Hosta plants love enriched, well-drained soil that is moderately yet consistently moist throughout the growing season. They appreciate mulched garden beds.

Do Hostas come back every year? Are Hostas a perennial plant?

With vigorous carefree growth, Hostas are herbaceous perennial plants that will return year after year with little maintenance.

What do you do with Hostas in the fall? What do you do with Hostas in the winter?

Hosta leaves will die back after frost but the crowns and roots remain intact and dormant until next spring. Prune back the leaves once they turn brown in the autumn and remove them from the plant's area. For winter protection, add a layer of compost or mulch over the crowns to protect them from the chill.

Do Hosta attract hummingbirds or pollinators?

Hostas are loved by pollinators and hummingbirds! All walks of beneficial pollinators will show up to sip their nectar.
