Plant Sentry™

Plant Sentry is designed to protect both consumers and the nursery trade from invasive plant pests and diseases. Sites that display the Plant Sentry protection badge are protected from consumers buying and nurseries shipping material carrying invasive pests and diseases.

This proprietary eCommerce software prevents the shipment of a restricted plant to each state. The Plant Sentry system includes a shipment certification program. The Plant Sentry Compliance Officer works closely with NatureHills.com and each nursery or fulfillment center to ensure only compliant plants are sold to customers.

How to Use Dwarf Hinoki False Cypress in the Landscape

Add one as a specialty evergreen in a curated collection. Dedicate a planting bed for wonderful Little Gem Norway Spruce and Papoose Sitka Spruce...or keep all three in oversized outdoor containers or troughs.

Consider them "full-size" Bonsai, and rest easy with their charming personalities in a Zen Garden. Why not add raked gravel mulch around them, and enjoy the process of creating mindful designs?

Keep two unique Dwarf Hinoki False Cypress plants in tall pots on either side of your front door. Brand your space with a very personal style.

These plants also make a showy addition to a mixed border. Play on the ruffled bloom texture with a tall layer of Black Diamond® Best Red™ Crape Myrtle shrubs planted behind a repeating series of Dwarf Hinoki.

Have fun with these light-hearted compact shrubs! Let them highlight bends, twists and turns in borders, rock gardens or foundation plantings.

Be inspired! This choice makes an excellent key player in a garden "vignette". Paint your visitors a beautiful picture with plants from Nature Hills.

Bring in a really special boulder and plant a Dwarf Hinoki False Cypress nearby to keep it company. Pop a Big Bluestem Grass behind the rock to soften the look.

Add a bench and you'll create a very meaningful memorial. Use one of our fantastic specialty evergreen trees like Slenderina Weeping Blue Spruce or Bruns Weeping Serbian Spruce as a taller partner.

Pair with gorgeous groundcover Roses on the south side of a trio of Dwarf Hinoki False Cypress.

It doesn't get any prettier—or easier—than that!

#ProPlantTips for Care

Plant in full sun or partial shade, where it will receive at least four hours of direct sunlight a day. Good air circulation is appreciated.

Give them well-drained soil, as their roots love to be damp, but won't tolerate standing water. Elevate the planting in a raised bed, if needed.

Nature Hills Root Booster helps the tiny feeder roots access water and micro-nutrients over the life of the plant. This time-tested formula delivers enormous benefits to your plant, and it never "wears out".

Apply a moderate amount of water on a regular basis. Keep the roots cool with a three-inch layer of mulch, then pull it back away from the trunk.

Evergreens stay vibrant rich green year-round, but they do have a normal renewal cycle and you may see some foliage drop in fall. Protect their evergreen needles with a good long drink of water in fall before the winter winds come on.

Slow-release fertilizer can be applied in early spring. Follow directions for application rates on the label.
