Growing Zones 4-9
Photographers flock to Daisy fields each year for the perfect picture of these pure white blossoms. Skip the mad dash by planting a couple of Snow Lady Shasta Daisy (Leucanthemum 'Snow Lady') right in your backyard! This pretty perennial takes the idea of Christmas in July to heart with snow-white flowers blooming in abundance. The petals surround a buttery yellow center for the classic Daisy look.
Keeping them close also means always having cut flowers just a few steps away. Should you possess the willpower to keep the flowers on their strong, sturdy stems, you'll be rewarded with a sight to see for sure. The bright yellow and white contrast with the gorgeous green foliage beautifully. Pick a couple of stems and use them in a bouquet to brighten up your living room or dining room table.
The only thing missing from this picturesque scene is a couple of fluttering butterflies. Oh but wait, these blooms are pollinator magnets! No reason to miss them, butterflies will visit your garden in droves throughout the summer! The show continues on into fall as other, earlier blooms are winding down for the year, Snow Lady is still going strong. It's almost as if it's determined to see some snow for itself!
Planting and Application:
Whether you have a field full or just one as a tasteful accent in your patio containers, Snow Lady Shasta Daisy demands attention in a way that's hard to ignore. From there, you can set one on your back patio as a living decoration or double it and put one on either side of your entryway! They say a first impression is most important and a delightful set of Daisies planted as edging in your front yard to greet your guests is a marvelous way to be bold! Or pot up a pair in fancy urns to display on either side of your front door!
Use one or two in your landscape as a low-level front-of-the-border plant or in containers as spillers and fillers! They'll add a pop of pizzaz as the filler in your mixed-planter combos. Not to mention it'll thrive since they appreciated slightly dryer soils once established, so go ahead and drop them into a Rock Garden or added to sunny mailbox plantings by the road's edge.
If you happen to be working with a smaller space, like the front yard of an urban home, then you're in luck. These don't get very tall at all and they are just as stunning as a single specimen as they are in masses. But for the best effect, plant a group of Snow Lady Shasta Daisies together in a mass planting!

#ProPlantTips for Care:
Cold hardy through USDA growing zones 4 up to zone 9, Shasta Daisies are tough perennials that have the most vigorous growth when grown in full sun, but can handle a touch of light shade in hotter growing zones. Well-drained soils are best and you'll want to make sure you're giving it medium moisture as it's establishing itself in your landscape. After that though, this hardy plant is quite drought-tolerant. The only no-no for Snow Lady is soggy soil. Incessantly wet roots will, especially during the winter, can cause some damage.
A good way to ensure the longest flowering time is to periodically deadhead the spent flowers. This lets the plant focus its energy on making new blossoms for you to enjoy. This plant does best if pruned down in late autumn. Improve vigor by dividing every few years and you get a healthier plant and, oh wait, you get two healthier plants out of the deal! Doesn't get much better than that.
- Full Sun & Tolerates Light Shade
- Moderate Regular Moisture & Appreciates Mulched Beds
- Well-Drained Organically Enriched Soil - Dislikes Soggy Winter Soil
- Continues Blooming if Deadheaded - Prune Mounds in Late Autumn
- Drought Tolerant Once Established
