Growing Zones 5-9
Go ahead and daydream of white puffy clouds and warm summer days, while you gaze upon your Whoops-A-Daisy Shasta Daisy (Leucanthemum x superbum 'Whoops-a-Daisy')! Whoops-A-Daisy was created from a breeding program at Walters Gardens, Inc. This new and improved dwarf Leucanthemum is so much more than the old standard Snowcap Daisy in many ways. It's time to buy and plant this beautiful Daisy in your garden to enjoy!
Whoops-A-Daisy forms a magnificent dense, rounded ball-shaped mound of dark green foliage that will become completely covered in large 3-4 inch white flowers with gold centers. They will bloom from early through mid-summer. Whoops-A-Daisy has better flower coverage and a more uniform habit compared to other Shasta Daisies, and the flowers are also fuller and fluffier in appearance.
The birds and butterflies will be buzzing about the endless beauty that this flower has to offer! Hardy throughout USDA growing zones 5 through 9, and grows into a very compact, uniform mound of lovely foliage 15 inches or so tall when in bloom, and spreading to a tidy 22 inches wide. Deer and rabbits rarely bother these plants unless desperate, but pollinators adore the nectar and pollen-rich blossoms!
Planting and Application:
Shasta Daisy mixes so well with other perennials that your garden will welcome them with open arms! They will look stunning as a border plants, and as cut flowers. The list will go on and on with how to use them around your garden. Add bright color to the perennial and pollinator border with these traditional English cut flower garden and border perennials! Ideal as cut flowers for bright and cheerful bouquets and playful additions to a Children's Garden or any garden for the young at heart!
Use your Shasta Daisy in containers or in your landscape. Anywhere you want to have your neighbors stop and gaze at the beautiful blooms and wish they had one in their garden! Dress up your front door - both in pots and planters or in the ground without sacrificing space! A big fluffy mounded blooming Daisy looks wonderful as a specimen surrounded by spillers in a big fancy urn takes these classic perennials into a formal affair!
Have a large broken urn or planter? Tip it onto its side, broken side down, and bury it just slightly. Plant a Whoops-A-Daisy Shasta Daisy slightly inside the open mouth and create a spilled flower display tumbling down a small berm for a unique garden bed addition! These are tough enough perennials for Rock Garden conditions and look lovely among the other mounding rounded boulders!
- Cheerful White Fringed Petals
- Blooms Early to Mid Summer
- Pollinator-Friendly & Easy to Grow
- Neat & Tidy, Uniform Mounds of Green Foliage
- Containers, Beds & Borders, Edging, Specimen & Cut Flowers!
#ProPlantTips for Care:
Whoops-A-Daisy will thrive in full sun and average to highly fertile soil as long as it is very well-drained. Low to average water needs, Daisy prefers a 3-4 inch layer of arborist mulch around their crown to hold in more moisture and keep the roots insulated.
Deadhead the spent flowers to encourage a rebloom, allowing the plant to focus its energy on making new blossoms for you to enjoy. It is best to prune down the stems and foliage in late autumn after it has turned yellow. Improve the vigor of your Daisy by dividing every few years. Not only do you get a healthier plant, you get two healthy plants out of the deal!
- Most Compact Growth in Full Sun
- Moderate Regular Moisture
- Appreciates Mulched Beds
- Well-Drained Organically Enriched Soil - Dislikes Soggy Winter Soil
- Reblooms if Deadheaded - Prune Mounds in Late Autumn
- Seldom Damaged By Deer
