They say no garden is complete with flower bulbs. We'd like to add that no garden is complete without vines!
Easily grow a magnificent garden feature on a sturdy installed support. Jackman Superba Clematis (Clematis 'Jackmanii Superba') clambers high to create a bower of dark purple blooms from June through the first frost.
Could you use a bit more privacy in your landscape? How about treating yourself to a new outdoor living space, complete with flowering walls?
Jackman Superba is an improved cultivar of the Jackmanii hybrid. It's absolutely covered in broad, velvety, rich purple flowers that start off rich blue-violet and age lighter for a lovely, two-toned effect.
These free-flowering vines produce an incredible amount of five-inch wide blooms each season. As you can imagine, their nectar draws plenty of neighborhood butterflies for your enjoyment!
The sepals grow slightly broader in the center, and finish in a reflexed tip. Some blooms will feature a reddish midrib, adding a further dimension to the overall decorative look.
No wonder Jackman Superba Clematis is always a top-rated selection. It's a standout in the Clematis family, which showcases such an amazing variety of blooms.
Mix and match your favorites to personalize your dramatic landscape design. Our growers love to offer the latest and greatest...along with the beloved classics that people will always adore.
Snip them for long-lasting cut flower arrangements. They'll add a flowing rhythm to horizontal arrangements in shallow bowls...and the gorgeous blooms and twisting, organic stems will take center stage in a tall, narrow vase.
Jackman Clematis even offers winter interest, when the showy deep purple flowers are followed by silky seed heads. You'll love their spiraling look in dried winter arrangements!
Make a statement with these easy-care vining plants. If purple is your passion, you won't want to miss out on its exceptional flower power.

How to Use Jackman Superba Clematis in the Landscape
You'll be happily surprised at the versatility of these extraordinary flowering vines. They'll add an impactful vertical accent on a permanent structure, but can also grace a slope with bold color.
People across the country are squeezing out additional living space in previously unconsidered side yards. They are making private "getaway" destinations, even in yards the size of postage stamps!
Plan out a way to maximize your living space. Imagine sitting with family and friends shaded by a tall trellis or pergola festooned with a lavish display of these showy blooms!
Plant Clematis by themselves or mix with other pruning type 3 varieties. Or, use Climbing Roses with Jackman Superba as an "on trend" modern planting.
Beautify an old chain link fence with several planted as espalier. Simply weave their long stems horizontally through the openings...a delightful garden task!
Another way to leverage their charm is to grow them as a vertical accent on a tall triangular tuteur, a sleek obelisk or rounded topiary form. You'll gain year-round structure from these ornamental garden elements; and Jackman Superba Clematis will add a stylish boost of color.
Growing from their slender branches, Clematis has leaf stalks that behave like tendrils, which wrap best around narrow-gauge netting. You might need to cover your trellises or garden sculpture with this netting to give them the most effective support.
Known as the "Queen of the Climbers", Clematis can also be used as a ground cover! Plant them five feet away from the edge of a garden bed, and train them to spread all along the lowest layer of your design.
Plant them at the top of a retaining wall, and allow them to drape over the edge. You'll love the soft look and the brilliant display of color.
Be sure to leave the last of the flowers in place to dry on the vine. Their centers develop into such beautiful feathery seed heads!
#ProPlantTips for Care
Clematis prefer their leaves in full sun and their root systems in partial shade. Cover this climbing vine with a three-inch layer of mulch to keep the roots cool and moist, but pull it back away from directly touching the stems.
Clematis is easy to grow in rich, porous, well-drained soils that don't stay wet for long. If you need to improve drainage, you can elevate your planting with a raised bed, or planting mound.
Water consistently for best results. A moderate amount of supplemental water will support the developing flowers over its long season of bloom.
This variety will flower on new wood. This Clematis should be pruned in early spring down to about 12-18 inches above the ground removing all the old vine tops.
Apply a slow-release fertilizer to your Clematis vines at that time to provide nutrients for the new growing season. Please follow application rates on the label and reapply according to the directions.
With their prolific bloom in a range of incredible purple shades, it is simply no wonder why generations of people have made room for Jackman Superba Clematis. Order yours today!
