A new dwarf Lilac from Proven Winners® ColorChoice®, the Baby Kim® Lilac (Syringa x 'SMNSDTP') brings all the beauty and fragrance to your landscape, no matter how much - or little - room you have! The same pink-lavender blooms, the same rounded and tidy form, and the same fragrance as its big sister the Miss Kim Lilac!
Blooming in late spring against the bright green leaves, the fragrant panicles full of lavender-pink florets perfume the air - both indoors in bouquets and in the landscape! The bees and butterflies, and a few hummingbirds will enjoy these lovely blossoms! Embodying the scent of spring, these Lilacs won't fade to white as they age!
Her dark green leaves are smaller and rounded. During the summer, this shrub will stay a pleasant green and as the season fades to fall, the leaves will blush red for an additional season of interest. Plus, your Baby Kim® has great fall color too!
Baby Kim® Lilac is cold-hardy and reliable throughout USDA growing zones 3 to 8 and maintains a rounded form 2-3 feet wide and tall! These deciduous shrubs are easy to grow and have a smaller stature that works great in today's landscapes!
Planting and Application:
Little Baby Kim® Lilac can do anything her big sister can without taking up your garden's precious space! Smaller backdrops and hedges, low-growing foundation plantings, and low privacy screens await you with these lovely flowering shrubs! Not blocking windows or your view, pair Baby Kim® with Miss Kim to create a layered effect in the garden, then tie in a special Miss Kim Lilac Tree as well for a focal point!
Container gardeners can employ Baby Kim® in their planters and porch pots! Create unique vignettes in the garden with curved rows of dwarf Lilacs, flowering shrubs and evergreens that highlight and screen a garden bench or bistro table! Or make a Baby Kim® in a fancy urn the focal point!
Use her in a side yard or create a lawn planting with a gently curved island garden bed. Use as a fantastic single focal point, or in groupings of three or odd numbers, for the most natural look. The natural tidy rounded form will make maintenance-free hedges and borders, and they look best when not sheared into formal shapes.

#ProPlantTips for Care:
Dwarf Lilacs have the best flowering if you site them in full sun. Air circulation is always a good idea for Lilacs, so morning sun and well-drained soils are always best for the best vigor and flowers. If there is too much shade, your Lilac will likely never produce blooms. Lilacs will not tolerate standing water or wet feet.
Provide regular, moderate moisture until established, and continue watering when there is an extended drought. For best results, cover the root system with around 3-4 inches of Arborist bark chips. Prune directly following the bloom to correct crossing branches or remove any broken limbs. Lilacs bloom on last year's wood, so if you prune too early or too late, you'll lose the flowers for next spring. Flowering shrubs also benefit from renewal pruning every 3-5 years by removing a third of the oldest, fattest stems to the ground.
- Needs Full Sun & Good Air Circulation
- Moderate Consistent Moisture
- Mulched Well-Drained Enriched Soil
- Prune Only Immediately After Flowering
- Hardy, Easy Care & Resistant to Powdery Mildew
