While small on their own, the blossoms gather together in larger clusters on short panicles. They are held prominently just above the branches.
The intricate, bell-shaped blossoms feature delicate, multi-toned coloring. The outside of each pink petal is highlighted by a tiny white margin. Inside the bloom, you'll be delighted with a lighter, creamy-pink shade and a show of pert, yellow stamens at the centers.
Yuki’s dark green leaves provide a handsome backdrop for the Cherry Blossom-like flowers. With arching branches, they'll add a graceful accent all summer long.
Be amazed again in autumn, as those same leaves transition to a lively burgundy. How nice to have such spicy color in your autumn landscape.
These deciduous, ornamental shrubs stay compact and grow into a pretty, rounded ball. It's blessedly low maintenance and easy to grow. Even deer tend to leave it alone.
If you have the room, order several Yuki Cherry Blossom® Deutzia to maximize the impact of this charmer in your landscape. But even a single one will become a sweetly radiant presence in your yard from spring through fall.
How to Use Yuki Cherry Blossom® Deutzia in the Landscape
Don't let it's tender good looks fool you. This durable shrub can be used in some tough conditions with a consistent amount of water.
This is a wonderful groundcover. It easily creates a carpet of color on a sunny slope, and adds definition to any bare spot you might have.
It's fantastic as a long, low hedge along the length of your planting beds. Let it hide the unsightly bare stems of "leggy" shrubs.
To create a solid fill, plant 10-inches apart on center. Measure from the center of one to the center of the next. Add staggered, zigzagging rows 10 inches apart to create a mass planting.
Mulch between each plant, and keep new mass plantings weeded. It won't take long before they grow together and touch.
Use single plants as specimens at points of transition in your yard. Pair with a Ninebark shrub, or let it soften the look of an evergreen. People adore these plants, and will take the time to stop and study them.
Of course, you can decorate your life with pretty Yuki Cherry Blossom® Deutzia in outdoor containers. Grow them as a single species, or add as a very special "Filler" in extra-large seasonal containers.
Consider popping them into your foundation plantings. Mass them on either side of your front door for a welcoming touch.
Yuki Cherry Blossom® Deutzia is a wonderful way to enhance the look of your garden, balcony, porch or patio. Get that delicate look you crave, for very little effort.
#ProPlantTips for Care
Give this eminently desirable deciduous shrub a spot in full sun or part sun. It requires at least four hours of direct sunlight a day.
Deutzia needs well-drained soil, and a regular amount of supplemental water. If your soil retains water for a long time, you'll want to bring in additional soil to create a raised bed. The higher the bed, the closer you'll be able to study your plant in bloom!
Mulch is a good idea for these plants. Just be sure to pull back the mulch from around the stems.
The beautiful blooms develop on previous years' wood. Wait until after flowering to lightly prune to shape and remove the spent flower panicles directly after flowering. It's a happy task, and gives you time to appreciate time with your Yuki Cherry Blossom®.
You'll be thrilled to receive your box of high-quality plant material right at your doorstep. Our expert growers take special pride in this small, loveable shrub. Order your Yuki Cherry Blossom® Deutzia today!
