Plant Sentry is designed to protect both consumers and the nursery trade from invasive plant pests and diseases. Sites that display the Plant Sentry protection badge are protected from consumers buying and nurseries shipping material carrying invasive pests and diseases.

This proprietary eCommerce software prevents the shipment of a restricted plant to each state. The Plant Sentry system includes a shipment certification program. The Plant Sentry Compliance Officer works closely with NatureHills.com and each nursery or fulfillment center to ensure only compliant plants are sold to customers.

Get super-charged pumpkin orange blooms for months! Bold, explosive color for your garden all season long and a showy garden bed all summer and into fall you can't beat Sombrero® Adobe Orange Coneflower (Echinacea x 'Balsomador')! There are many modern cultivars of this great American native, but right now, the Sombrero® series is right at the top of the list of excellent new plants.

Sombrero® Abobe Orange is a blockbuster new color that will look as fresh and current in July as it does in October! The well-branched green leaves are pointed and scratchy, providing a coarse-textured backdrop to the incredible blooms!

Plant Sombrero® Adobe Orange and watch it explode with super-charged blooming power. It is compact but covers itself in lightly scented orange daisy-like flowers for months on end, lasting from summer through fall! The unique raised centers have curious spikey, colorful centers that will usually be filled with pollinators.

Emerging in early spring with bright green foliage, the blooms arrive by summer and rise high above the mature, dark-green foliage. These herbaceous perennials are easy to grow and have a wonderful compact habit. Heat and cold hardy, and growing throughout USDA planting zones 4 to 9, these tidy perennials grow just under 2 feet tall and about as wide!

Planting and Application:

Perfect for the perennial border, a natural meadow, and a wildlife garden. Add that explosion of color for the whole growing season! The orange blooms exude warmth and radiance, so plant them along your front foundation and pot them up in planters to match your home's color to bring a new level of curb appeal!

Coneflowers are smaller, tidy plants that will be the highlight of any plant grouping. Plus they are natural in the Cottage border, Cutting Garden, and Pollinator border! Remember the more you cut, the more they pump out fresh flowers! For bold floral arrangements and long-lasting bouquets, the Sombrero® Adobe Orange Coneflower will make a standout specimen indoors and out!

Thriving in those hot, dry spots in the garden, Echinacea loves the sun and excels in tougher conditions. Prairies and meadows gleam with these bright blooms and they can freely spread and naturalize without becoming a problem. Let them ramble through Xeric gardens and Rock gardens, and these tough native cultivars and the deep roots, thrive in drought but also make them have increased survivability for fire! Include these plants in your fire-wise landscaping plan with other warm-toned flowers!

Run Coneflowers along your front walkway in a narrow planting bed or in that hell strip along the sidewalk. Space them 12 inches apart in a zigzagging planting pattern. Measure from the center of one to the center of the next. This technique can be used to create large mass planting to cover a wide, open space. Just add more plants in additional rows, then mulch between plants. Be sure to keep new beds weeded until they grow together.

Birds love the seeds in the high central cones and if you let the flowers dry on the plant they make striking winter silhouettes the birds will love! Leaving the ornate seed heads will provide winter interest until spring.

#ProPlantTips for Care:

The fiery color glows in the full sun and encourages more blooms and stronger branching. The blooms return vigorously and profusely, especially if you remove spent blooms. Needing well-drained soil, these Coneflowers become very drought tolerant once established, Echinacea Sombrero® Adobe Orange Coneflower loves the dryer waste areas and fills them with vivid color. Even tolerating clay soils, just as long as they drain.

If puddles remain on your soil after a rain or watering, consider elevating the planting area. Add 18 - 24 inches of soil above the native soil line and plant your tree directly in that mound. During the first season, please pay close attention to watering. Once these herbaceous Perennials' deep, Prairie-style roots are well-established in your soil, Sombrero® Coneflowers become waterwise.

Use Nature Hills Root Booster when planting to give your plants the micronutrients and beneficial soil amendments they need. You'll get more blooms over the growing season with a regular schedule of supplemental water. Do give it supplemental water in extended periods of extreme heat, or if you are growing this hot little number in large containers. You'd hate to miss a single, cheerful bloom, after all! Provide a 3-4 inch deep layer of mulch to help protect plants in the harshest locations.

Deadhead the blooms after they are fully open for indoor flower arrangements. You'll encourage a new flush of blooms with this quick task, and decorate your home at the same time. Leave the last blooms of the season standing to give you some much-needed winter interest. They'll develop their beautiful seed heads that help feed local songbirds. In early spring, remove the spent flowers to within an inch of the ground.

Sometimes a plant performs just a bit too well in certain areas. Rest assured, Nature Hills uses Plant Sentry™ to track all federal, state, and local regulations on invasive materials. We will always protect you and your community. We're happy to offer this special plant for sale in areas where it will work beautifully without any concern. To check your availability, simply type in your Zip Code to Find Your Growing Zone in the section above the Plant Highlights.
