Plant Sentry™
Plant Sentry is designed to protect both consumers and the nursery trade from invasive plant pests and diseases. Sites that display the Plant Sentry protection badge are protected from consumers buying and nurseries shipping material carrying invasive pests and diseases.
This proprietary eCommerce software prevents the shipment of a restricted plant to each state. The Plant Sentry system includes a shipment certification program. The Plant Sentry Compliance Officer works closely with NatureHills.com and each nursery or fulfillment center to ensure only compliant plants are sold to customers.

Delivery and Shipping
Shipping
To obtain a more accurate shipment time-frame, simply enter your zip code in the “Find Your Growing Zone” box to the right. Our plants are grown all over the country and lead time on items may be different because of this. Once your order is placed, you will also receive the specific shipment time-frame information as part of your order confirmation. Once an item ships, you will receive shipment notification and tracking numbers, so you can follow along while your plant travels to your doorstep. We use FedEx, UPS, or USPS at our discretion.
Due to winter weather we have put a hold on shipping to the areas shown below in grey. You can still order now and we will ship the plant to you during an appropriate time for your zone.

Growing Zones
Are green shrubs boring to you? Is two-tone variegation so last year? Then it's time for a triple-color play shrub! The Sgt. Pepper™ Dogwood bush PP#34,377 (Cornus alba 'Verpaalen2') is a colorful treat for the eyes! Bright green and cream variegation with pink margins for an added touch!
The pointed leaves line the burgundy stems for an added boost of color! Lasting throughout the spring and summer months, accented in the late spring with umbles packed with white star-shaped flowers! Bees and butterflies will adore these blossoms and the sporadic blooms that reappear throughout summer!
These variegated Dogwood shrubs are very cold-hardy throughout USDA planting zones 3 to 7 and once fall sets into your area, get ready for another show of color! Sgt. Pepper™ ignites into fiery hot pink and burgundy! Don't despair when the leaves drop at last, because you'll enjoy the burgundy red stems that contrast against the browns and white of the winter months!
Landscape Application:
These deciduous shrubs grow 4-6 feet in height and can spread 6-8 feet wide. That's a lot of size packed with a ton of color! So Sgt. Pepper™ is a must-have specimen that packs a wallop when you plant one front and center in your front yard on a raised berm! Even a single accent planted at the corner of your home's foundation is enough to get all the looks!
Amplify this effect by planting an informal hedge along the sidewalk to provide a triple-hued property division that brings screening from the street or a busy sidewalk! Heads will turn and traffic will slow down driving past your home!
Tri-colored Sgt. Pepper™ Dogwood are fantastic mixers that boost the color levels of your mixed shrub border, along your home's partly shaded foundation, as fancy privacy hedges, and for bulking up a hedge of snow fencing and windbreaks!

#ProPlantTips for Care:
Dogwood are fantastic shrubs that handle full sun and partial shade, but you will get the best coloration in 6 hours of sun a day. However, in growing zone 7, some gardeners will find their plants burn less when planted in a location with some afternoon shade. Choose a location with well-drained soil that is enriched and mulched to a 3-4 inch depth. These shrubs like regular moisture and can handle higher moisture areas too!
Renewal prune to remove 3-year-old wood to the ground as needed, as this will keep the stems brightly colored, young, and vigorous! Cornus alba tends to sucker but these side growths are easily removed to the ground or mowed around to keep the shrub tidier.
- Full Sun & Partial Shade
- Well-Drained Enriched Soil
- Moderate to High Moisture
- Renewal Prune Every 3-5 Years
- Deer Are Usually Not A Fan
