Plant Sentry™

Plant Sentry is designed to protect both consumers and the nursery trade from invasive plant pests and diseases. Sites that display the Plant Sentry protection badge are protected from consumers buying and nurseries shipping material carrying invasive pests and diseases.

This proprietary eCommerce software prevents the shipment of a restricted plant to each state. The Plant Sentry system includes a shipment certification program. The Plant Sentry Compliance Officer works closely with NatureHills.com and each nursery or fulfillment center to ensure only compliant plants are sold to customers.

How to Use Purple Poppy Mallow in the Landscape

Select a site in full sun, where other plants wilt and fade. How about your mini-Sahara around the mailbox? Or the Death Valley near your back door?

Plant several to create a high-impact mass planting 12 inches apart on center. They'll spread out thick to cover the ground with color.

Line the top of a retaining wall with these rugged plants. Over time, they'll spill over the edge to softly blur any harsh boundary line.

Create a mulched border on either side of your sidewalk. Use Purple Poppy Mallow to create a "Red Carpet" effect and treat your guests with an impressive welcome.

Tuck them under overgrown shrubs to perk up "ho hum" foundation plantings and enliven mature evergreens. Just ensure you plant them on the sunny south side!

Create a Xeriscaped rock garden with help from Nature Hills. We offer many different options, including Plains Grasses, fragrant Lavenders and pollinator-friendly Bluebeards.

Ornamental Purple Poppy Mallow is a great choice for commercial properties, too. Install a walking path with plenty of benches...then rely on these native groundcovers to highlight the edge of oversized mass plantings of easy-care Rudbeckia, Coneflower and Ornamental Grass.

You can even use them as a special "Spiller" in oversized container gardens. Treat them like a succulent or cactus in the pot, and partner with a Yucca Filamentosa as a "Thriller".

For a modern look, create a series of narrow rectangular planting beds to define your space. Plant these gorgeous native along the length of each bed to develop into a ribbon of color.

Don't forget that pollinators appreciate their extended season of bloom. Use near a seasonal Victory Garden or fruiting trees to entice these critical critters to the blossoms of your food crops.

Layer in flowering plants that match your site's unique microclimates. Callirhoe involucrata Purple Poppy Mallow choice ground cover works best in the tough, forgotten, hot, dry parts of your landscape.

They will not tolerate standing water, so please ensure their new home has sharply well-drained soil. Dry, rocky soils are perfect for this petite powerhouse.

Water them consistently during their first season in your landscape. They develop a very long tap root during that time, and will be drought resistant once established.

Plan for their mature spread listed on the Plant Highlights. That tap root makes them difficult to transplant, so rest easy in your initial choice of planting site.

Let's face it. The beautiful, cup-shaped magenta flowers of this Merlot-colored, mat forming perennial look great no matter how you use them!
