A pretty decorative bloom, the bi-color pink and yellow blooms, the Pacific Ocean Dahlia (Dahlia 'Pacific Ocean') embodies the sunrise over the Pacific Ocean and it will shine in your garden with its prolific flowers!

Multiple blossoms open all summer into the autumn on tall stems and lush green foliage, growing 3 to 4 feet tall and about 18-24 inches wide! The gorgeous greenery looks great all on its own and offers the perfect backdrop for the many cheerful sunrise-hued blooms!

Carefree and easy to grow, Dahlia grows in all USDA growing zones! Use Dahlia as seasonal accents and annual potted thrillers, Dahlia tubers need dug in the fall and stored for the winter if you live in a cold growing zone where the ground freezes. In frost-free winters, Dahlia can be kept in-ground all year round.

Landscape Application:

As seasonal annual accents, Dahlia looks wonderful planted among bulb gardens and containers on the front porch! For warm, frost-free growing zones, Use Dahlia as back-of-the-garden specimens and along pathways and fencelines!

Mix Pacific Ocean throughout mixed perennial and Rose gardens, create groupings of vibrant color in a tired cottage border or courtyard, wind rows along a border, or foundation planting that is in need of tropical color!

These space-saving plants are perfect even if you don't have a yard! Plant Dahlia in containers around your pool and patio, or in planters around your front door seating, or on balconies and decks that can use some brilliant color. The pollinators and your vases indoors will be grateful!

  • Prolific Bloomers Spring Til Frost
  • Lust Green Foliage & Tall Stems

#ProPlantTips for Care:

Plant Dahlia tubers in full sun for the best growth and the most blooms! The morning sun is best due to its drying power to clear the leaves of dew. Delicate Dahlia foliage also appreciates afternoon shade in hot climates and everywhere they love good air circulation! The key to successfully growing Dahlias is well-enriched soil with regular fertilizer. It is recommended that you add 3-4 inches of arborist bark mulch for consistent soil moisture and protect the roots.

Even though they are often referred to as 'bulbs' the roots of the Dahlia are tubers like potatoes and sprout from the 'eyes'. Plant Dahlia tubers between 10-12 inches deep in loosened, enriched soil. These modified roots need to be planted in very well-drained soil that won't become soggy. Tubers planted directly in the ground will start to sprout in about 3 weeks depending on your climate and weather.

Deadhead regularly for continuous rebloom and trim back yellowed foliage in the fall. Dig up the tubers for the winter. Store these bulbs in a cool, dark place for the winter.

Forming from bulb-like tubers, these perennials need protection from freezing temperatures. While Dahlia can be planted in all growing zones, climates with cold winters need to "lift" the tubers in the fall before the ground freezes.

  • Full Sun & Partial/Afternoon Shade
  • Well-Drained Enriched Soil
  • Tolerates Moderate to Moist Locations
  • Prune After Foliage Yellows & Lift Tubers In Fall
