Plant Sentry™

Plant Sentry is designed to protect both consumers and the nursery trade from invasive plant pests and diseases. Sites that display the Plant Sentry protection badge are protected from consumers buying and nurseries shipping material carrying invasive pests and diseases.

This proprietary eCommerce software prevents the shipment of a restricted plant to each state. The Plant Sentry system includes a shipment certification program. The Plant Sentry Compliance Officer works closely with NatureHills.com and each nursery or fulfillment center to ensure only compliant plants are sold to customers.

Delivery and Shipping

Shipping

To obtain a more accurate shipment time-frame, simply enter your zip code in the “Find Your Growing Zone” box to the right. Our plants are grown all over the country and lead time on items may be different because of this. Once your order is placed, you will also receive the specific shipment time-frame information as part of your order confirmation. Once an item ships, you will receive shipment notification and tracking numbers, so you can follow along while your plant travels to your doorstep. We use FedEx, UPS, or USPS at our discretion.

Due to winter weather we have put a hold on shipping to the areas shown below in grey. You can still order now and we will ship the plant to you during an appropriate time for your zone.

*If you have found your zone already, it will be highlighted in the table below.

Would you like a Hydrangea with green flowers? Red flowers, or perhaps purple flowers? How about a Hydrangea that displays all three? The Next Generation® Pistachio Hydrangea (Hydrangea macrophylla NEXT GENERATION 'Horwack') is a one-of-a-kind shrub that features stunning, 5-inch wide flower heads!

These big bold mophead blossoms begin their show in spring and continue right up into fall! Each dazzling, double floret is lime green with a dramatic splash of hot pink and a purple eye. This plant's florets snuggle together to form an impressive mophead that you have to see to believe! Large leaves of deep green complete the floral picture for a stand-out in your yard like no other.

Your Next Generation® Pistachio Hydrangea Bush is a deciduous, ornamental Bigleaf Hydrangea shrub with a compact, rounded habit and is generally pest-free. Hardy USDA growing zones 5 through 9, and reach a mature height of 3-5 feet tall and a similar mature width. These are pH-sensitive Hydrangea, so you'll see your blooms turn bluer in acidic conditions and pink to purple in more alkaline soil.

Planting and Application:

Next Generation® Pistachio tends to do better in some northern areas where other Hydrangeas might struggle and is more disease-resistant than some older varieties. It works well in containers and mixed-planters, and will look magnificent scattered about in your patio garden or front porch! Try one placed as an accent in a front yard border. The glossy, dark foliage provides the perfect backdrop for the spectacular flowers, and its compact nature ensures a neat and tidy appearance in the yard that doesn't detract from the showy bloom.

The Hydrangea is a versatile shrub that looks great in almost any location! Drop one or more into a cottage garden, urban courtyard, or as a backdrop to your perennial garden! Pollinators adore these blossoms and you will too in your cutting garden! Snip a few of the blossoms for long-lasting indoor color for bouquets, or dry some for future use. The bloom is highly versatile and often used in crafts and other projects!

  • Unique Re-Blooming Tri-Colored Mophead
  • Glossy Textured Deep Green Foliage
  • Reblooms Late Spring Through Fall
  • Pollinators Adore the Blooms
  • Great in Containers, Specimen, Low Hedge, Foundation Planting

#ProPlantTips for Care:

Next Generation® Pistachio will do best in full sun when planted in cooler summer climates and appreciates afternoon shade or partial sun in the hottest climates of its growing zone range. Plant Hydrangeas in a well-drained enriched medium that won't ever have standing water, and in soil that is moderately moist all growing season long. Cover the soil's surface with a 3-4 inch thick layer of mulch to insulate and keep the roots cool and moist. Prune in the early spring to remove any winter dieback and old blooms. Remove the oldest stems to encourage new, more vigorous stems to take over.

  • Full Sun & Partial Shade
  • Prune After Flowering
  • Appreciates Mulch & Consistently Moist Soil
  • Blue in Acid Soil & Pink/Purple in Alkaline
  • Pest Resistant

Just as its name implies, Pistachio Hydrangea is the "Next Generation" of Hydrangea, reaching beyond the standard, traditional Bigleaf Hydrangeas to provide unique coloration and appeal that will astound you for years to come.
