The sharp thorns also create a natural barrier to keep unwanted visitors out and help protect your property. Create groupings that are bird-friendly motels and nesting sites, while also becoming a boon to nectar-hungry honeybees and butterflies that will seek out these blooms all growing season!

Try a long hedge along your front yard or commercial property to deter foot traffic. The fragrant blooms ensure you still offer plenty of curb appeal. For a solid screen, plant them three feet apart on center; measuring from the center of one to the center of the next. Stagger a second row behind it for faster fill.

A single shrub makes a great specimen and focal point for filling garden beds and Rock Gardens with ruffled bright pops of color and lush green foliage! Smaller pruned shrubs can even be kept in large outdoor planters with ease!

Use several of these rounded, vase-shaped flowering shrubs as an easy backdrop for your Butterfly Garden. Birds love the ornamental hips, too! Gather and dry Moje Hammarberg Rugosa Rose blooms for potpourri indoors. Harvest the edible hops for jams and jelly, and you'll have antioxidant-rich homemade presents to give loved ones for the Holidays! You'll also have fantastic winter interest and winter décor for dried arrangements and displays.

#ProPlantTips for Care:

Vigorous and tough, Rugosa Roses tolerate coastal conditions. Deer don't care for the spiny canes, although we do recommend deer-repellent spray in areas with heavy pressure. Moje Hammarberg Rugosa Rose is grown on its own root for extreme cold-hardiness. Give it plenty of sunlight and well-drained soil for the best performance! Don't forget the Nature Hills Root Booster, to give this fragrant Rose life-long support when used during planting. This symbiotic formula enhances your landscape assets their entire life. Use mulch over the root system, but pull it back away from touching the canes.

In early spring, remove several of the thickest, oldest canes at ground level to maintain health and vigor. Read all you need about pruning Roses Here, and about winterizing your Roses Here and un-wintering Roses in Spring in our #ProPlantTips Garden Blog!
