Usually, flowering shrubs are given names that are romantic, fanciful or referencing their flouncy colorful nature. Then there is this one that is Mega! The Mega Pearl Hydrangea (Hydrangea paniculata 'Mega Pearl') is a beauty among Panicle Hydrangeas. This large shrub performs great in both sun and shade, and will become smothered on new wood with mega-sized elongated cone-shaped flower clusters! Unlike the tight balls of flowers that you might be familiar with on other garden-variety Hydrangeas - Instead, these are open, airy cones full of florets that start white, and then turn a light pink towards the end of the season!

Mega Pearl's individual flowers are larger than other Hydrangeas and really stand out against the deep green leaves. The flowers are great to use as fresh cuts for flower arrangements but are truly excellent when they are dried for arranging later in the winter. That is if you can get them free of butterflies and hummingbirds first! As the flowers age and turn a lovely pinkish hue, fall cold snaps turn these lacy blossoms into dried tan décor for winter interest or winter decorating!

Backed by a 6-8 foot tall and equally wide mound of toothy, textured deep green foliage that is a telltale sign of a Panicle Hydrangea! Very cold hardy and heat tolerant throughout all of USDA growing zones 3 through 9, these wildly adaptable shrubs aren't dependent on soil pH for their pinkish late summer hue!

Planting and Application:

Tolerant of both wind and salt, Mega Pearl makes an ideal, and classic choice for a seaside summer cottage - or the house you wish was by the sea! Or more urban areas along the sidewalk and driveway where winter conditions mean salted surfaces too! These can grow tall enough when in flower to provide light hedges and screening as well as block wind around seating areas! Shut out the hectic world with a curved bank of these romantic blooming ornamentals around your meditation and relaxation nooks!

Extremely vigorous, Mega Pearl shows off in perennial beds, borders and containers, especially larger planters for year-round decoration! Use as backdrops to your cottage border or as a fantastic specimen and anchor at the corner of your home's foundation plantings. Limb up these tall shrubs to create a multi-trunked tree form for a unique focal point and accent!

  • Huge Open Airy Panicles
  • White Blossoms Age to Pink
  • Handsome Green Foliage
  • Easy Care & Adaptable
  • Hedges, Light Screening, Large Planters & Borders
  • Great Fresh Cut Flowers & Dried Décor

#ProPlantTips for Care:

Panicle Hydrangea does great in full sun for the strongest stems, so provide at least 6 hours of sunlight, favoring the morning sun. However, those planted in hotter growing zones do appreciate afternoon shade. Plant in enriched, well-drained soil and provide consistent water throughout the growing season. Hydrangea love having thickly mulched beds to keep their roots cool and hold in moisture.

  • Full Sun & Part Sun
  • Moist Well-Drained Soil
  • Color Isn't pH-Dependent
  • Prune Early Spring & Appreciates Mulched Beds
  • Wind & Salt Spray Tolerant

You won't see blooms this large often, so hurry and order the impressive spectacle Mega Pearl Panicle Hydrangea today! We're sure you will certainly have a place in your garden for this beauty. Order today at NatureHills.com!
