The brilliant and showy Limelight Panicle Hydrangea Shrub is already a well-known vigorous and dependable shrub that grows fast! But then our plant experts have carefully crafted a tree-form version of this beloved shrub! Standing atop a sturdy, straight 2-3 foot tall Hydrangea trunk standard, we've created a spectacular specimen!

Designers rely on the showy, foot-long, pale-green flowers from mid to late summer. These rare lime-colored blooms are an extraordinary standout in the garden! You'll love being able to study the huge, celadon-green, cone-shaped blooms up close. They are evenly distributed throughout the whole canopy for a lush, uniform look. Pollinators will adore them too!

As the season progresses, your Panicle Hydrangea will start displaying color-changing blossoms. Transitioning from green, to bright white to pleasing pink, and even mauve and burgundy in the fall. Don't miss using the pretty blooms for cut flowers at any point in its color evolution. It's so easy to create professional-looking arrangements. The blooms can also be dried successfully.

Why not leave the last of the blooms on your tree to age to antique cream? They look incredible in the wintertime throughout USDA plant hardiness zones 3 to 9. These deciduous plants have the same beloved Hydrangea foliage with quilted texture and toothy margins you have come to know and love!

#ProPlantTips for Care

Panicle Hydrangeas will tolerate partial shade but really love plenty of sunlight to grow. Full sun means more flowers! In the hottest areas, give this variety of afternoon shade. It needs at least four hours of sunlight a day.

Easy to grow with just a few key reminders when planting:

Hydrangea will adapt to just about any soil type, as long as it drains well. If you have ground that stays soggy after a rain, you may have poorly drained soils. Create a raised mound of soil about 18 inches above your native soil to improve your drainage. You'll plant directly into that mound. Add a landscape edge to create a raised bed.

Provide a medium amount of water on a regular basis. This is especially important while the tree is young, during flower production, and for plants kept in containers. Apply mulch to a depth of three inches, but pull it back at least a few inches from the main trunk. Reapply regularly.

Leave last year's flower heads on for winter interest. Prune Panicle Hydrangeas only after the new growth has started to expand. Grab a pair of shears and reduce the overall size to a two to three-foot sphere. If you have a more mature tree, you can always reduce it to a three to four-foot sphere to keep a bit of height. Just make sure it's done before the growing begins. That way you won't damage any of the coming flower power!

You'll not need to fuss or muss with these low-maintenance, hardy, small, ornamental trees. With Panicle Hydrangeas, there is no need to worry about the soil pH changing the flower colors either!

  • Prefers Partial Shade/Afternoon Shade
  • Regular Moderate Moisture Needs
  • Well-Drained Soil - No pH Requirements
  • Appreciates Mulched Beds
  • Prune Panicle Hydrangeas In Early Spring
