Plant Sentry™
Plant Sentry is designed to protect both consumers and the nursery trade from invasive plant pests and diseases. Sites that display the Plant Sentry protection badge are protected from consumers buying and nurseries shipping material carrying invasive pests and diseases.
This proprietary eCommerce software prevents the shipment of a restricted plant to each state. The Plant Sentry system includes a shipment certification program. The Plant Sentry Compliance Officer works closely with NatureHills.com and each nursery or fulfillment center to ensure only compliant plants are sold to customers.

Delivery and Shipping
Shipping
To obtain a more accurate shipment time-frame, simply enter your zip code in the “Find Your Growing Zone” box to the right. Our plants are grown all over the country and lead time on items may be different because of this. Once your order is placed, you will also receive the specific shipment time-frame information as part of your order confirmation. Once an item ships, you will receive shipment notification and tracking numbers, so you can follow along while your plant travels to your doorstep. We use FedEx, UPS, or USPS at our discretion.
Due to winter weather we have put a hold on shipping to the areas shown below in grey. You can still order now and we will ship the plant to you during an appropriate time for your zone.

Understanding Plant Options
Nature Hills offers plants in two main formats:
- Container Plants: Grown in pots with soil, sized by container volume and plant age
- Bare Root Plants: Dormant plants without soil, sized by height measurements
Container Plant Sizes
Container sizes indicate plant age and growing capacity rather than liquid volume equivalents. Our containers follow industry-standard nursery "trade gallon" specifications, which differ from standard liquid gallon measurements.

Growing Zones 6-9
Some of us don't have the room to install an entire water feature in our front yards. While disappointing, you don't have to give up the dream altogether. Plant a Falling Water Bald Cypress (Taxodium distichum 'Falling Waters') and revel in its flowing foliage!
Like other weeping forms, this tree's branches stretch towards the ground in a race to see which touches grass first. Unlike other forms, its foliage is needle-like! But don't worry, they aren't sharp! Running your hand through its luscious green botanical hair feels as soft as a feather! Watch them flow and sway in the breeze!
As pretty as this deciduous coniferous tree is in the spring and summer, you'll be absolutely astounded at its beauty come fall! The leaves turn a gorgeous shade of copper before falling away to reveal the fascinating branch structure underneath.
Imagine the beauty of this tree covered in a layer of sparkling morning frost! Hardy throughout USDA planting zones 6 to 9, these fantastic weeping ornamentals grow 8-12 feet tall and a bit slimmer in width.
Planting and Application:
Use Falling Waters as the focal point of your front yard for a unique display that lasts all year! Plant in a raised berm to really show your weeping ornamental off best, or plant at the corner of your home or outbuilding. The fine-textured beauty and swaying motion bring a dream-like quality to your landscape.
Should you happen to already have that water feature the rest of us are jealous of, plant this dwarf weeping conifer at the edge to complete the aesthetic. Plant your tree near ponds, lakes, rivers, Rain Gardens, and any area that tends to flood or get soggy after a rain.
You can also plant this drooping ornamental at the edge of your backyard patios. They make great conversation starters! Plant in a Zen garden or meditation nook, reflected in a still pond for a pretty presentation! One would become a crown jewel to a landscaping bed, or potted up in a large planter around your seating areas and back patio!
- Deep Green, Feather-Like Foliage
- Pleasing Pyramidal Shape
- Bright Orange Fall Color
- Unique Deciduous Conifer
- Fantastic Wildlife Tree
- Perfect Specimens & Shade for Windbreaks or Privacy Screens
#ProPlantTips for Care:
To keep this weeping tree at its happiest, place it somewhere in full sun and well-drained soil. However, it does alright in both dry conditions and even a bit of standing water. Acidic soil is best along with a thick layer of mulch around the base. These trees do best with supplemental moisture during extended drought and prolonged heat, however, they love moist to high-moisture soil environments. Doing well in urban conditions, weeping Bald Cypresses are highly adaptable and resilient! Truly versatile trees! We highly recommend Nature Hills Root Booster during planting.
- Full Sun for Best Growth
- Widely Adaptable to All Environments
- Tolerant of Poor Soil, Acidic Sites & Urban Conditions
- Prune If Needed Early Spring
- Low Maintenance Hardy & Long-Lived Tree
