Description
Get ready for something extra! The Extravert Gladiolus (Gladiolus x hortulanus 'Extravert') is a shocking combination of yellow-centered hot pink blooms! Lining 3-4 foot tall flowering stems in an alternating pattern, the blooms pop open from the bottom and gradually work their way up!
Hummingbirds and bees will not be able to resist this outrageous Extravert! So plant extra! That way you won't deprive your pollinators of the life of the party when you gather a few stems as fresh-cut flowers to create showy floral arrangements indoors too!
Gladiolus are framed in sword-like green leaves, creating tidy clumps just 6-8 inches wide but readily naturalizing in frost-free growing zones to create eye-popping drifts! Hardy in USDA zones 8 and up, Glads can be used as seasonal accents or annual ornamentals, but can also be dug in the fall like Canna Lily and Dahlias and stored safely over the winter too!
Landscape Application:
Extravert Gladiolus is perfect for small and large gardens and displays that are sure to catch the eye and pull you in! The tall wands are perfect for backdrops and pops of color when used as groupings! Line pathways or accent a weary foundation border or evergreen hedge with hot magenta and yellow tropical-looking blooms!
Gladiolus are showy summer-flowering corms that fill your landscape beds in vibrance and vertical texture. Try planting waves of corms 2 weeks apart to extend your bloom time and give you plenty of flowers for bees and bouquets throughout the summer months! Every garden becomes an exotic cutting garden and pollinator border!
Mix these hot numbers with Canna Lilies, Hibiscus, and red or yellow summer blooms for a shocking display around seating areas, in your front landscaping, or around the mailbox! Extravert Gladiolus is absolutely eye-catching in front porch urns as thrillers, or adding a burst of juicy color throughout summer garden beds.

#ProPlantTips for Care:
Gladiolus are strongest and have the best flowering display in full sun in cooler growing zones but appreciate afternoon shade in hot growing zones. Any well-drained soil location works great. These bulbs do appreciate moderate yet regular moisture access and mulched beds.
Plant these corms in the spring about 6-8 inches deep. Groupings and rows have the biggest effect and impact on your garden, so plant your corms pointy side up about 5-6 inches apart.
Stake your flower wands unless you plant your Glads in a location protected from the wind. Deadhead as soon as the last flower fades but keep the greenery to make food for the bulb until they turn yellow.
In zones 1 through 7, lift your corms as you would Canna or Dahlias, and store them for the winter in a cool, dry location.
- Full Sun & Afternoon Shade In Hot Climates
- Moderate Moisture Needs
- Organic Well-Drained Soil
- Deadhead After Blooms Fade & Prune or Dig in Fall
- Spring-Planted Summer-Flowering Corm
- Deer & Rabbit Resistant
