Growing Zones
Another marvel from Proven Winners® ColorChoice®, get your garden ready for a night on the town with the Dressed Up® Evening Gown Coral Bells PP#34288 (Heuchera x 'Evening Gown')! No need to rent a Tux though, the dramatically dark purple to nearly black, heavily ruffled foliage will be all you need!
The extraordinary foliage is as dramatically shaped as it is dark! Like the ruffled shirts of a Tuxedo, this gorgeous hybrid Coral Bells will add a fun and formal elegance to your shaded landscape! Then during the summer, pollinators will show up by day and night moths in the evening to sip nectar from the dainty pinkish-white bells that grow high above the foliage on slender stems.
This saturated and extraordinary Heuchera from Proven Winners® ColorChoice® is marvelously cold and heat tolerant throughout USDA planting zones 4 to 9. Growing about a foot or so high, with the flower stems rising higher, these frilly, mounded perennials spread around 2 feet wide.
Landscape Application:
Evening Gown Coral Bells and its darling fairy blooms are enchanting in Children's gardens and cut flower borders, and will even encourage a hummingbird to drop in for the party! Pollinator borders gain ample blossoms, just add a bird bath and a garden bench for a spring til summer show!
The black foliage adds ruffled, high-gloss interest to Rock Gardens and Cottage borders alike, while the dark color adds dramatic contrast among the green! Try planting Evening Gown Heuchera in the opposite of a Moon Garden, or have fun and start your own dark foliage garden that is sure to turn heads and turn any garden into a black tie affair.
The glossy ruffled quality of the leafy mounds are sure to stand out despite being planted among shaded gardens and beneath larger trees canopies. Even as filler in large planters, Evening Gown Coral Bells stands out from the rest!

This is a wonderful choice to use as edging, groundcover, or winding rows of dark drama! Whether you are just starting out as a novice gardener, or have recently purchased a "blank slate" property. #ProPlantTips for Care:
Coral Bells are wonderful ornamental Perennials that do well in full sun in the cooler climates, and in partial shade everywhere. They can tolerate full shade in the hottest of growing zones, but for the best color, provide at least a few hours of morning sun and afternoon shade. Plant in enriched, well-drained soil with regular moisture to keep Coral Bells happy, and water them well in the heat of summer and the dry winter months. Be careful not to bury the plant too deeply, keep the crowns up high with about an inch of nursery dirt showing above ground.
Dressed Up® will grow best with a moderate amount of water on a regular basis. Add a three-inch layer of mulch to cover the soil around the plant's base, but pull it away from directly touching the stems or covering the crown. In spring, gently pull the old or winter-damaged leaves away and you'll be ready for a dazzling new season.
- Full Sun & Partial Shade
- Widely Adaptable to Soil & Climate
- Moderate Moisture
- Prune Off Dead Shoots in Late Autumn
- Deer Resistant
