Growing Zones 3-9
Astounding double ruffles and creamy color! While Peonies are the queens in the flower world, commanding hefty price tags at the florist. If you're lucky enough to grow them, you know that you only get a few weeks of blooms every year. What if you could have the look of those beauties throughout the summer and into the fall - without the price tag, upkeep or fuss?
Let us introduce you to Rainbow Rhythm® Siloam Peony Display Daylily (Hemerocallis 'Siloam Peony Display').
What? A Daylily that looks like a Peony? You bet! Siloam is even fragrant!
This beautiful Daylily cultivar from Proven Winners® has elegant blooms up to 6 inches across that are so deeply ruffled they look more like Peonies than Daylilies. The blossoms are fully double and in a "you-have-to-see-it-to-believe-it" shade of pale blushing rose/peach with a sparkling dust of diamonds! With several flowers blooming at once, it looks like a florist's bouquet growing in your garden!
These flowers will stay open for 16 hours or more - way longer than many Daylilies and rebloom all growing season long. They will give you a heavy flush of blooms in midsummer and then again toward the fall, with a light show all season long! Cold and heat-hardy throughout USDA growing zones 3 to 9, Rainbow Rhythm® Daylilies are disease, pest, and deer/rabbit issue free.
The flowers of the Daylily are edible and are a popular colorful addition to any salads, and if you are not that adventurous, try just using the petals as a garnish!
Planting and Application:
Siloam Peony Display has the same bullet-proof toughness as other Daylilies - it can grow in harsh conditions that would make other flowers this pretty whither from fear - polluted city environments, near salted pavements, under Black Walnut Trees, on slopes, and in poor and dry soils!
There is nothing prettier (or easier!) than a long row of Daylilies edging the length of a garden bed. Use multiple plants to increase the impact of the long, strappy leaves. These add fine texture to the edges of your garden beds and borders, flowing over pavers, Rock Gardens, and the sides of pathways.
Gorgeous perennials for hummingbird gardens, cut flower borders, and pollinator plantings; allowing you to share these lovelies with your local wildlife and indoors to fill your bouquets (or give a bouquet to someone in need of some cheer!)!
Use Daylilies in the street-side hell strips, or in lush container gardens. For a continuous look, plant 12 to 18 inches apart on center. You'll measure from the center of one to the center of the next. For mass plantings, use a staggered, zig-zagging planting pattern. Mulch between plants and keep them weeded until they grow together. Happy Returns Daylily is wonderful when planted in mass as a fill plant to gain continual summer color. It's such a low-maintenance option, it can even be used in commercial landscapes.
Mix with other Daylilies for an impactful, easy-care look, as a wonderful Filler plant in large container gardens, in Xeric landscapes and is on many fire-scaping lists.

#ProPlantTips for Care:
These herbaceous perennials are so tough, they even bloom longer than usual! Daylilies are easy to grow, and Happy Returns isn't the slightest bit fussy. Just give it a good sunny spot and well-drained soil. It tolerates partial shade, but flowers best in full sun. Daylilies are low-water usage plants (once established) but don't like to go completely dry. Mulch your plant root system 3-4 inches deep, and spread out 2 feet from the outside of the plant to keep roots cool and extend the period between watering.
Deadhead to remove spent blooms to encourage repeat blooms throughout the season! This also helps keep the plant looking fresh and promotes maximum reblooming. Daylilies can be susceptible to rust and some other foliage diseases so for that reason it is very important to remove all of the foliage to the ground in late fall after the plants have been exposed to a couple of frosts. Removing the foliage before winter prevents the overwintering of disease on the old leaves so it is best to always clean them up and dispose of the old foliage each year. Every 3-5 years, it is recommended you divide the clumps to keep them growing vigorously.
