Growing Zones 3-9
Set the garden ablaze with the Prairie Wildfire Daylily (Hemerocallis 'Prairie Wildfire')! is known for its prolific bloom performance that lights up the garden in midsummer! The large 5-inch flowers are rich red, very round, and open flat. It has finely ruffled edges and a contrasting bright yellow throat.
The flowers have a delicate fragrance for an added bonus which lures in pollinators and curious hummingbirds! The blazing deep red blooms seem to glow from within and will light up your floral bouquets and garden beds alike!
Cold-hardy and heat-tolerant throughout USDA growing zones 3 to 9, Daylilies are incredibly resilient! There's little in the landscape that will faze them! A tough tetraploid with semi-evergreen foliage in mild winters, this is an herbaceous perennial that reliably returns year after year after cold winters.
Planting and Application:
Mix Prairie Fire with gold and yellow blooms, dark purple and burgundy flowers and plants with dark purple or maroon foliage, and highlight with reds, mauves, and peaches. Prairie Fire radiates warmth and showy beauty in Cottage borders but is tough enough for Rock Gardens too! Pollinator and Cutting gardens are welcome locations for these fiery flowers!
Tall enough to hold their own as middle-of-the-border blooms, but the foliage mounds up to 36 inches wide are great garden filler, edging, spillers, and facer plants! These are spectacular blooms that deserve a prominent location in your front berm, around a mailbox, front and center in a perennial border, or as the focal point in a front porch planter!
Create groupings and rows to show off these gorgeous blossoms while utilizing their clumping grassy foliage in large drifts to maximize their impact. Go big and plant swaths en masse where bare ground along paths and sidewalks, along the road or your driveway, or on an eroding sunny hillside that's difficult to mow need a brilliant and tough solution that can stand up to the harshest of conditions and look good doing it!

#ProPlantTips for Care:
Daylilies are easy-to-grow and prefer full sun but in areas that receive less than 6 hours of sun during the day, your Daylilies will probably produce fewer and smaller blooms, and the foliage may not be as robust. Best in enriched, well-drained soil that has regular but moderate moisture access, but they will grow in almost any soil and handle drought to wet soil conditions once established. Top dress with 3-4 inches of arborist mulch chips.
Deadhead to encourage rebloom, then trim the entire scape to the crown of the plant once all the buds are spent. In late autumn after frost, remove all foliage to the ground and dispose of it away from the site to prevent rusts and diseases from overwintering. Divide the root system every 3-5 years to maintain vigor and flowering!
- Best in Full Sun
- Adaptable in Any Well-Drained Soil
- Moderate Moisture - Low Once Established
- Prune Late Fall, Deadhead Regularly & Divide Every 3-5 Years
- Seldom Bothered By Anything
