Huge purple blooms from Proven Winners®! The Rainbow Rhythm® Nosferatu Daylily (Hemerocallis 'Nosferatu') shows off its huge, broad triangle-shaped petals! It has fragrant 6" flowers that have a shiny dark purple color with a bright green eye and throat. These ruffled blossoms prove to hold their color in the sun and have more prominent veining in their purple petals. These fragrant trumpet-shaped blossoms often attract lots of attention from everyone and even a few Hummingbirds too!

Nosferatu blooms mid-season and has a very high bud count, it is an easy-to-grow variety. Like its Daylily cousins, Nosferatu stands up to even the harshest of conditions. This Daylily is a semi-evergreen tetraploid and has larger, thicker leaves and flowers, stronger flower scapes, more intense coloration, and increased vigor. Individual flowers last only one day, but since each plant produces many buds, the total blooming time of a well-established clump may last more than a month!

Hardy throughout USDA growing zones 3 to 9, Rainbow Rhythm® Daylilies are heat and cold-tolerant and grow up to a 2-foot tall and wide clump. The arching, cascading fountains of strappy green leaves are pest and disease resistant, easy to grow, and very low-maintenance, there's little that bothers these herbaceous perennial plants!

Planting and Application:

Daylilies are well-known for their rugged durability in urban conditions, their tolerance of pollution, and streetside plantings. You can even use them under Black Walnut trees, as they aren't affected by juglone! Once established, the Daylily can be an excellent groundcover on slopes because it has roots that hold soil against erosion. Use Daylilies in the front of your garden border and along walkways as edging, in Rock Gardens, and in street-side hell strips.

Use Nosferatu Daylily for color in shrub borders and in perennial beds. Use them to add star appeal to stand-alone plantings, as facer plants, or in mixed containers and planting tubs. Mix with other Daylilies for an impactful, easy-care look, as a wonderful Xeric landscape plant and is on many fire-scaping lists.

All parts of the Daylily can be eaten. Harvest the flower shoots when they first appear in the spring when they are tender and drop them in a salad, use as garnish, and chopped up in stir fry. So plant them by your vegetable gardens to pull in the pollinators so they will help pollinate your crops!

Rainbow Rhythm® Daylilies are perfect in container gardens and are lovely fillers, spillers, and focal points in planters, windowboxes, and in groupings in large urns as a spectacular display! Add the blooms and leaves to floral bouquets and plant a few extra plants so you and your pollinators can enjoy their fill of these blossoms.

  • Huge 6" Ruffled Dark Purple Blooms & Contrasting Lime Green Throat

  • Fragrant Daylily! Attracts Butterflies & Hummingbirds

  • Containers, Garden Beds & Borders, Edging & En Masse

#ProPlantTips for Care:

Don't worry about this plant's name - It's actually a full sun lover and basks in the sunlight without getting bitey. These herbaceous perennials require little maintenance throughout the year to keep performing their best. Daylilies are some of the easiest plants to grow and are a great choice for any gardener. Daylilies grow in almost any soil and handle drought to wet soil conditions. Add a 3-4 inch thick layer of mulch over the soil surface for best results!

Deadhead during the summer to keep the plants reblooming. Daylilies are susceptible to rust and some other foliage diseases so for that reason it is very important to cut all of the foliage to the ground in late fall after the plants have been exposed to a couple of frosts. Removing the foliage before winter prevents the overwintering of disease on the old leaves so it is best to always clean them up and dispose of the old foliage each year. In colder hardiness zones 4-8, the foliage may die back to the roots for winter and regrow from the crown in the spring, but in warmer climates, Daylilies can sometimes remain evergreen. Every 3-5 years, it is recommended you divide the clumps to keep them growing vigorously. The Nosferatu Daylily can survive many harsh conditions that other plants cannot including polluted city environments, slopes, poor and dry soils, near pavement that is salted in winter, and are not affected by Walnut tree juglone.

  • Exceptionally Easy-Care in Full Sun
  • Widely Adaptable - Any Well-Drained Soil
  • Moderate Moisture - Low Once Established
  • Prune Late Fall, Deadhead Regularly & Divide Every 3-5 Years
  • Very Cold Hardy & Heat Tolerant

The dark, unusual purple color is almost spooky and adds an extra dimension to your landscape! Hurry and order the Proven Winners® Rainbow Rhythm® Nosferatu Daylily today at Nature Hills and add this unique, dark bi-color bloom to your landscape!
