The Plant Sentry Compliance Officer works closely with NatureHills.com and each nursery or fulfillment center to ensure only compliant plants are sold to customers.

Stars for a day! The Chicago Sunrise Daylily (Hemerocallis 'Chicago Sunrise') is a heavy blooming trumpet-shaped with bright yellow star-like flowers, each opening for one day and being replaced with a fresh new bud each day!

These fragrant deep yellow to yellow-orange blooms held high on tall scapes above compact mounds of grassy green leave that arch and sway in the breeze! This long flowering, repeat bloomer is a golden jewel that jumps out at you from the garden! It attracts butterflies and hummingbirds but also resists rabbits and deer!

This hardy tetraploid is heat and chill resistant throughout USDA 4 to 10, remaining semi-evergreen through mild winters, but is a reliable perennial in cold winters. Growing s 24-30 inches in height when in bloom, Chicago Sunrise spreads into clumping mounds 12-18 inches wide once mature.

Planting and Application:

Use these radiant and cheerful blooms as cut flowers, bright landscape accents, and specimens! These cheerful blooms look great in Cottage borders, brightening the Rock Garden, and adding brilliance throughout Pollinator Gardens!

Daylilies are ideal for massing in groupings and rows throughout those tricky areas of the landscape! Hell strips that get salted or occasional foot traffic by driveways, sidewalks, and along the road. Grace as edging and facer plants around the more pampered parts of the landscape, use Daylily in your garden borders!

Chicago Sunrise is an exotic yellow for your pots and planters around the pool or sunny deck! Use as fillers, spoilers, and thrillers in large specimen tubs, or in mixed containers anywhere sunny!

Daylilies are impactful, easy-care, and tough enough throughout the Xeric landscape plant and are on many fire-scaping landscaping lists.

  • Bold Yellow-Orange Trumpet-Shaped Blooms
  • Grassy Green Arching Foliage
  • Pollinator-Friendly & Fragrant Cut Flowers
  • Container-Sized & Very Easy to Grow
  • Specimens, Accents, Edging & En Masse

#ProPlantTips for Care:

These herbaceous perennials require little maintenance throughout the year to keep performing their best. Daylilies are some of the easiest plants to grow and are a great choice for any gardener. The plant prefers full sun with at least 8 hours of direct sunlight for the best performance. They will grow in almost any soil and handle drought to wet soil conditions. Add a 3-4 inch thick layer of mulch over the soil surface for best results!

Spent blooms can be deadheaded, then remove entire stems once all the buds are done to keep the plants reblooming. Daylilies are susceptible to rust and some other foliage diseases so for that reason it is very important to cut all of the foliage to the ground in late fall after the plants have been exposed to a couple of frosts. Removing the foliage before winter prevents the overwintering of disease on the old leaves so it is best to always clean them up and dispose of the old foliage each year. Every 3-5 years, it is recommended you divide the clumps to keep them growing vigorously.

  • Best in Full Sun
  • Adaptable in Any Well-Drained Soil
  • Moderate Moisture - Low Once Established
  • Prune Late Fall, Deadhead Regularly & Divide Every 3-5 Years
  • Seldom Bothered By Pests, Disease, Deer, Salt & Clay Soil

Cheerful yellow blooms and sweet fragrance, the Chicago Sunrise Daylily will brighten your landscape for years to come! Hurry and order yours today at Nature Hills Nursery!
