Plant Sentry™

Plant Sentry is designed to protect both consumers and the nursery trade from invasive plant pests and diseases. Sites that display the Plant Sentry protection badge are protected from consumers buying and nurseries shipping material carrying invasive pests and diseases.

This proprietary eCommerce software prevents the shipment of a restricted plant to each state. The Plant Sentry system includes a shipment certification program. The Plant Sentry Compliance Officer works closely with NatureHills.com and each nursery or fulfillment center to ensure only compliant plants are sold to customers.

Delivery and Shipping

Shipping

To obtain a more accurate shipment time-frame, simply enter your zip code in the “Find Your Growing Zone” box to the right. Our plants are grown all over the country and lead time on items may be different because of this. Once your order is placed, you will also receive the specific shipment time-frame information as part of your order confirmation. Once an item ships, you will receive shipment notification and tracking numbers, so you can follow along while your plant travels to your doorstep. We use FedEx, UPS, or USPS at our discretion.

Due to winter weather we have put a hold on shipping to the areas shown below in grey. You can still order now and we will ship the plant to you during an appropriate time for your zone.

*If you have found your zone already, it will be highlighted in the table below.

The magnificent Kelvin Floodlight Dahlia (Dahlia 'Kelvin Floodlight') is the winner of multiple awards including the prestigious Award of Garden Merit from the Royal Horticultural Society! Dahlias thrive in hot weather, but these gorgeous sunny yellow flowers always look cool and elegant. Use them as cut flowers for fabulous vase arrangements!

This gorgeous plant has huge, bright, sunny yellow blossoms that stand atop slender stems above the ruffled, toothy, and glossy green foliage of these amazing plants. The double flowers of Kelvin Floodlight are 10-12 inches wide! Talk about butterfly landing pads! They are broad, flat-tipped petals that are sometimes wavy and a delight to see in the garden. These are not top-heavy and remain upright and straight, even when it rains.

These plants will bloom magnificently all summer through September and October when few other plants do. This Dinnerplate Dahlia is a member of the Decorative Dahlias line of flowering bulbs and can be perennial in zones 9-10. Northern growers can still enjoy Dahlia as annual accents that require being lifted in the fall before a hard frost and stored for the winter.

Planting and Application:

Dahlia are glorious blooms for cut flower gardens and pollinator beds! They make a huge impression on your perennial and cottage borders where they don't take up much room but are sure to create quite the spectacle anywhere you choose to use them! The tubers are easily brought in and stored for planting next spring or used as annual accents!

Kelvin Floodlight acts like a beacon in container gardens and planters! Drop these magnificent focal points to your Creeping Jenny spillers and other bright yellow blooming fillers! Mix among your Rose gardens for golden accents and as the next layer to your bulb gardens to shine after they've bloomed and receded in the summer heat!

  • Stunning Dinnerplant-Sized Blooms
  • Bright Sunny Yellow Hue
  • Easy to Grow Annual/Perennial Bulb
  • Blooms July through October
  • Great Butterfly & Cut Flower Specimen!
  • Reliable Summer Bulbs, Containers, Beds & Borders

#ProPlantTips for Care:

Dahlia are so easy to grow in full sun and partial shade, and in well-drained soil. Soil temperature at planting should be 60 degrees Fahrenheit. Feed monthly with a bloom-boosting fertilizer (15-30-15). Do not water until new growth appears above the ground. Once the plants are established, a deep watering twice a week will get them through the dry summer periods. Oftentimes called bulbs, but the roots of this plant are actually tubers - like potatoes, and sprout from their "eyes" and have shallow roots.

The foliage will fade in the fall and wilt with colder nights. In very cold climates, to save your tubers for the next year, dig up the plants after the first frost. Let them dry out, and then place in paper bags or boxes in a cool place. Throughout the winter, sprinkle a little water if the tubers are drying up. If you live in a warmer frost-free climate, just trim out stems to keep your plants looking their best; fresh growth will appear in the spring.

  • Full Sun to Partial Shade
  • Well-Drained Organic Soil
  • Moderate Consistent Moisture
  • Lift Tubers in Fall After Frost
  • Appreciates Monthly Fertilizer

Plant this magnificent golden flower with other colorful varieties or let them make a grand statement when planted alone! Either way, the Kelvin Floodlight Dahlia will be sure to make a lasting impression. Order yours today at NatureHills.com and we'll ship your bulbs at the correct planting time for your growing zone!
