Highlight your impeccable garden design with this sophisticated choice. The generous weeping Crimson Princess Laceleaf Japanese Maple Tree (Acer palmatum dissectum 'Crimson Princess') garners attention, no matter where you plant it.
Add one or more as a thoughtful layer to keep the visual experience moving along. You will appreciate the color play of finely cut foliage!
In spring, the gorgeous leaves emerge crimson purple for a magnificent springtime contrast with the fresh spring green of most other plants in the early landscape! Local hummingbirds and butterflies will appreciate the small red flowers. This nectar source supports a wide variety of beneficial pollinators...a choice to feel good about.
The downturned branches of Crimson Princess drape softly toward the ground. Over the season, the delicate leaves of Crimson Princess age to a mid-toned red-bronze, and in the autumn, you'll be thrilled with the vivid red fall color display that kicks off a bit later than other Japanese Maples!
Landscape Application:
Place your Crimson Princess in a high-profile spot where it can steal the show as it erupts in the spring, shows off all summer, and then keeps the show going for a last curtain call in the autumn! Pair them with low-slung Azaleas and a ring of showy spring bulbs in a rainbow of hues in an incredible display!
These versatile plants can be grown as weeping specimens or wide, rounded shrubs. Line either side of an entrance with their grace, or enjoy them twice in a reflected planting pond-side. Create a memorable fire pit and seating area for the entire growing season or a peaceful Zen garden where the red foliage and lacy leaves reflect beautifully in a meditation pool.
Punctuate the charm of Crimson Princess with the dark foliage and bold blooms of Black Diamond® Red Hot™ Crape Myrtle nearby. Gain an impactful contrast and a showy burst of blooms!

#ProPlantTips for Care:
Japanese Maples have delicate foliage that can burn in the hot afternoon summer sun in hot climates, so provide a location with afternoon shade. In cooler climates, full sun is great as long as you have consistent moisture. Any well-drained location with good soil works beautifully for these trees, and regular moisture access keeps your tree stress-free. Provide a 3-4 inch deep layer of mulch around the base of the tree to benefit the root system greatly! Prune if needed in the late winter to remove broken branches and tidy up the form.
- Performs in Full Sun or Part Shade
- Well-Drained Soil
- Moderate Regular Moisture
- Prune When Dormant
- Versatile & Adaptable
