Layer several of these special trees for a spectacular look in your space. Dense, upright Crimson Prince Japanese Maple Tree (Acer palmatum 'Crimson Prince') can easily anchor your collection.
This well-branched tree features fantastic dark purple foliage that stays colorfast for much of the summertime. That high pigmentation shows up in the new deeply colored branches, too.
Broadly lobed leaves with fine-cut edges make a wonderful showing. This is a great choice if you need to shield your landscape from prying eyes.
Use Crimson Prince as an outstanding privacy screen. It's extremely versatile and can be used in the ground, or oversized modern containers.
Dark purple leaves emerge on nearly black twigs in early spring. You may not even notice the tiny green and red flowers, but the local beneficial pollinators certainly will.
Vigorous Crimson Prince Japanese Maple puts up with some tough conditions, including humidity, when sited correctly and given plenty of moisture and mulch. Even the eye-catching foliage resists leaf scorch.
Get ready for compliments from your neighbors. This showy small tree brings a huge amount of visual interest...for little effort.
You'll enjoy the bold red-purple color for most of the summertime. It's only when the "dog days" of summer approach that you'll see bronze-green new growth taking shape.
Don't get complacent, however. You'll want to keep your eyes open for the rich mix of red and orange fall colors as temperatures start to dip.
Crimson Prince Japanese Maple is a dazzling tree in spring, summer, and fall. You'll even love the well-balanced shape in winter, too.
Place your order for these incredibly popular compact trees ASAP. We'll sell out of our limited inventory quickly.
How to Use Crimson Prince Japanese Maple in the Landscape
No matter how much space you have, you'll appreciate Crimson Prince for its hard-working beauty. Rely on a row of them as a backdrop for your other plantings, or use one to hide a neighbor's window.
Plant one as an accent near your front door, or at the corner of your home to anchor your foundation planting. They'll highlight your home's special architecture and you'll boost your curb appeal in one fell swoop.
Plant an informal grouping of Crimson Prince to perk up the look of ho-hum mature landscaping. Simply create a new mulched garden bed to the east side of taller evergreen trees, and place it in a loose triangle or zig zag.
Plant to maximize your sunshine. Crimson Prince likes about four hours of sun a day but can be positioned in a sheltered spot behind sun-loving shrubs and perennials.
If you have more sun, underplant them with red Tulip bulbs and place Spirea shrubs on the south side for a beautiful look. Be sure to polish up the sunny edge of your bed with Voodoo Sedum or Flaming Carpet Sedum.
On the east side of your house, partner them with a collection of several of our flowering Hydrangea shrubs. You will never grow tired of this extremely professional look.
Commercial property owner? Get more eyes on your business with help from these charming and vigorous trees.
Let their lower branches remain and grow for a shrubby screen. Or, remove them to show off more of their dark branches.
Grow them in outsized garden containers for a high-end design element. Use Crimson Prince on your patio or portico as a garden wall for a secluded setting.
Rest and relax in style with their grand hues. You'll be tempted to create a special outdoor Meditation Garden with the wild depth of color brought to you by these living focal points.
#ProPlantTips for Care
Plant your Crimson Prince Japanese Maples where it gets four hours of sunlight a day. It will perform best in the morning sun and afternoon shade.
Apply a regular amount of water on a consistent basis. You can also cut down on surface evaporation and keep roots cool and moist with pine straw or pine bark mulch...kept away from touching the trunk.
You want to give your tree moist soil...but never standing water. The soil must drain well.
If you see puddles that remain a long time after rain, create a raised bed. This will give the crown of your tree more oxygen it needs.
Ensure container-grown trees receive even water, too. They count on you! Add automated drip irrigation to keep things easy for yourself.
Shape up your tree with a thoughtful pruning plan in winter while your tree is dormant. The goal should be to open the canopy to additional air circulation and remove damaged and crossing branches.
Plant the crowning jewel of your landscape design. Order Crimson Prince Japanese Maple today!
