Plant Sentry™

Plant Sentry is designed to protect both consumers and the nursery trade from invasive plant pests and diseases. Sites that display the Plant Sentry protection badge are protected from consumers buying and nurseries shipping material carrying invasive pests and diseases.

This proprietary eCommerce software prevents the shipment of a restricted plant to each state. The Plant Sentry system includes a shipment certification program. The Plant Sentry Compliance Officer works closely with NatureHills.com and each nursery or fulfillment center to ensure only compliant plants are sold to customers.

Delivery and Shipping

Shipping

To obtain a more accurate shipment time-frame, simply enter your zip code in the “Find Your Growing Zone” box to the right. Our plants are grown all over the country and lead time on items may be different because of this. Once your order is placed, you will also receive the specific shipment time-frame information as part of your order confirmation. Once an item ships, you will receive shipment notification and tracking numbers, so you can follow along while your plant travels to your doorstep. We use FedEx, UPS, or USPS at our discretion.

Due to winter weather we have put a hold on shipping to the areas shown below in grey. You can still order now and we will ship the plant to you during an appropriate time for your zone.

*If you have found your zone already, it will be highlighted in the table below.

Your landscape will forever be changed when you add this gorgeous, colorful Leucothoe! The Burning Love™ Dwarf Leucothoe (Leucothoe keiskei 'Opstal 50') is a hardy broadleaf evergreen with great red stems and colored leaves!

Bell-shaped clusters of flowers bring in the butterflies and set the entire shrub alight with extra interest! This plant fills the area with a fresh aroma, making the air feel fresh! You can enjoy the wildly colorful broadleaf evergreen foliage all year round and your yard will still be full of life during the cold winter season! Fall brings dark reddish-purple color that can last into the winter!

These Southern Living® plants are striking throughout USDA planting zones 6-10 and handle heat and humidity beautifully! Preferring more shade than other shrubs, these colorful evergreens grow just 2 - 3 feet tall and wide at maturity and need very little maintenance to keep them looking good!

Landscape Application:

This dwarf variant grows from 2-3 feet tall and wide, so Burning Love™ is space-saving and packs a lot of color and interest without taking up a lot of space! It is the perfect size for being an accent in containers or mass plantings! However, Burning Love™ is pretty enough to be the star of the show as well.

The fresh scent of the flowers makes this a perfect shrub for use around your seating areas and meditation nooks! Also known as Doghobble, these native cultivars are woodland residents that thrive beneath a tree canopy! Burning Love™ is fantastic in the ground, in courtyards, in smaller modern lots, and even in containers!

Loving shade, create a fantastic foundation hedge, divide your front yard from the sidewalk, create long backdrops throughout your landscaping beds, and low hedges for colorful property definition!

  • Beautiful Green & Cream Variegated Foliage With A Touch of Pink
  • Coppery New Leaves
  • Glossy, Pointed Leaves Remain Showy All Year-Long
  • Compact Broadleaved Evergreen - Romantically Arching Branches
  • Fragrant, White, Bell-Shaped Flowers - Held on Long Racemes in Spring
  • Butterflies Appreciate The Spring Blooms
  • Modern Cultivar of Native Shrub
  • Hedges, Foundations, Colorful Backdrops & Showy Specimens

#ProPlantTips for Care:

Leucothoe are woodland natives that grow well in a site in part shade with deep, acid, well-drained soil amended with plenty of organic matter. Northern growers can plant theirs in more sun, but hot climates should consider a location with afternoon shade to full shade. Despite their leathery texture, the leaves are easily damaged by winter wind and hot sun. Plant in a protected location so northern drying winter winds won't burn the leaves.

Provide regular water access for new installations and do not let them dry out. These hardy shrubs handle occasional flooding and high moisture sites. Water your shrubs very well in the autumn so they do not go into a cold climate winter with dry roots. A 3-4 inch deep layer of arborist mulch or bark chips and/or compost is essential for a stress-free shrub!

  • Great for Partial to Full Shade (More Color In Part Sun)
  • Rich Well-Drained Soil
  • Moderate Regular Moisture
  • Appreciates Mulched Beds
  • Prune If Needed After Flowering
  • Easy Care & Low-Maintenance
  • Deer Tend To Leave It Alone

Fiery color and space-saving size, the Burning Love™ Dwarf Leucothoe will cast your landscape in vivid colors all year long! Order yours today at NatureHills.com and we'll ship these vibrant shrubs to your doorstep!
