Plant Sentry™

Plant Sentry is designed to protect both consumers and the nursery trade from invasive plant pests and diseases. Sites that display the Plant Sentry protection badge are protected from consumers buying and nurseries shipping material carrying invasive pests and diseases.

This proprietary eCommerce software prevents the shipment of a restricted plant to each state. The Plant Sentry system includes a shipment certification program. The Plant Sentry Compliance Officer works closely with NatureHills.com and each nursery or fulfillment center to ensure only compliant plants are sold to customers.

Delivery and Shipping

Shipping

To obtain a more accurate shipment time-frame, simply enter your zip code in the “Find Your Growing Zone” box to the right. Our plants are grown all over the country and lead time on items may be different because of this. Once your order is placed, you will also receive the specific shipment time-frame information as part of your order confirmation. Once an item ships, you will receive shipment notification and tracking numbers, so you can follow along while your plant travels to your doorstep. We use FedEx, UPS, or USPS at our discretion.

Due to winter weather we have put a hold on shipping to the areas shown below in grey. You can still order now and we will ship the plant to you during an appropriate time for your zone.

*If you have found your zone already, it will be highlighted in the table below.

The Proven Winners® improved selection, the Sunshine Blue® II Bluebeard PP 28,093 ( Caryopteris incana 'SMNCVH') is a brilliantly-colored flowering shrub with a gorgeous color combination! This is a cheerful and bright small flowering shrub with blue flowers that are especially eye-catching amid gold-tinted foliage and will be adored by your yard's butterflies!

Both the flowers and foliage have a pleasing scent and will continue their fabulous show from late summer and into fall! Sunshine Blue® II Bluebeard features delicate, blue flowers that rise out and above the bright foliage, their airy nature an almost ethereal appearance for your landscape. The tiny, blue tufts of floral perfection are held aloft on stems strong enough to hold them erect as they sway on the breezes.

Hardy throughout USDA planting zones 5 to 9, these Blue Mist Spirea bushes grow 2-3 feet in height and width. These are deciduous shrubs in warm climates but act as herbaceous perennials in colder zones, dying back to the ground in the winter. Deer tend to pass it by, and it will be a relatively carefree plant for your landscape.

Planting and Application:

Sunshine Blue® II is a new, improved variety of the classic Sunshine Blue Bluebeard, and is more tolerant of cold climates. Sunshine Blue® II has an upright, compact nature and is a stronger plant than some other Bluebeard varieties.

These would be wonderful as container plants for your patio, or make a striking border for one of your garden beds. Bluebeard is great facer shrubs and low-growing edging, and this high-impact flowering bush really shows off with beauty and ease!

If you have a slope in your landscape, planting Sunshine Blue® II Bluebeard en masse would create a spectacular effect! Thriving in hot, dry, sunny spots, Caryopteris are must-haves for en masse plantings, in rows along sunny pathways and sidewalks, and in Rock Gardens!

An excellent plant for attracting butterflies and bees, plant these colorful shrubs in your Butterfly garden while giving you plenty of colorful stems for cut flower bouquets!

  • Last-Season Lavender-Blue Flowers
  • Aromatic Sunny Foliage Color
  • Fragrant Top To Bottom
  • Cut Flowers & Attracts Butterflies
  • Works Well In Containers
  • Versatile Landscape Use, Low Hedges, Edging & Facer Plants

#ProPlantTips for Care:

For the most colorful foliage and the most flowers, provide a full sun location with at least 6 hours of direct sunlight per day. However, in warmer climates, these shrubs can handle afternoon shade. Bluebeard must have very well-drained soil and moderate moisture throughout the growing season. Hardy, durable, and adaptable, Bluebeard is salt-tolerant and drought-tolerant once established. A 3-4 inch deep layer of mulch is a great idea to retain additional needed moisture.

Bluebeards bloom on this year's wood (new growth) and can be hard-pruned to maintain their trim shape. Growing as perennials in colder climates, leaving the foliage in place over winter to protect the crown from winter weather. In Zones 5 and 6, you can prune them back to the ground each spring before they start to grow. In Zones 7, 8, and 9, you can trim them back by half each year in early spring.

  • Full Sun & Partial Shade
  • Adaptable To A Variety Of Well-Drained Soils
  • Moderate to Low Moisture Needs
  • Blooms On New Wood - Prune Early Spring
  • Deer & Pest-Resistant

A Proven Winners® selection, Sunshine Blue® II Bluebeard is valued by many gardeners for its late-season color and blue-yellow color combo! You're sure to love it too! Now available at NatureHills.com!
