Plant Sentry™
Plant Sentry is designed to protect both consumers and the nursery trade from invasive plant pests and diseases. Sites that display the Plant Sentry protection badge are protected from consumers buying and nurseries shipping material carrying invasive pests and diseases.
This proprietary eCommerce software prevents the shipment of a restricted plant to each state. The Plant Sentry system includes a shipment certification program. The Plant Sentry Compliance Officer works closely with NatureHills.com and each nursery or fulfillment center to ensure only compliant plants are sold to customers.

Our plants are grown all over the country and lead time on items may be different because of this. Once your order is placed, you will also receive the specific shipment time-frame information as part of your order confirmation. Once an item ships, you will receive shipment notification and tracking numbers, so you can follow along while your plant travels to your doorstep. We use FedEx, UPS, or USPS at our discretion.
Due to winter weather we have put a hold on shipping to the areas shown below in grey. You can still order now and we will ship the plant to you during an appropriate time for your zone.

With a lovely rounded habit and fine-textured broadleaved greenery, the Bayou Bliss® Distylium PP32816 (Distylium x 'BLDY01') is a great low-maintenance broadleaf evergreen shrub in the Southern Living® Plant Collection! A gorgeous alternative to Boxwood or Holly and holds up its color and vigor despite the heat and humidity of the Southern US climates.
Spring brings colorful new growth that ages blue-green. In the winter, the lovely foliage is accented by small but numerous burgundy-red blooms that the bees and other pollinators adore! The fine-textured stems are not overly showy but are excellent foliage for cut flower bouquets.
Formerly Known as Jewel Box™, Distylium shrubs are also known as Winter-Hazel because of their Witch Hazel family ties. These broadleaf evergreens thrive throughout USDA planting zones 7 to 9! Growing just 2-3 feet tall but spreading 3-4 feet wide, these hybrid Distylium are wonderfully versatile shrubs with no insect or disease issues!

#ProPlantTips for Care:
Distylium is heat tolerant, is adaptable to most soils and able to withstand both wet and dry locations. It can easily tolerate soils that are occasionally saturated but well-drained. Growing best in full sun or partial shade, top-dress the soil with 3-4 inches of mulch for moisture retention. Prune after flowering to tidy up the shrub, but generally, Distylium is low-maintenance and naturally neat due to its slower growth! You can renewal prune every 3-5 years instead of shearing.
- Full Sun & Partial Shade
- Once Established Handles Wet to Dry Sites
- Any Well-Drained Soil Type
- Prune After Flowering If Needed
- Pest & Disease-Resistant
- Great Alternative to Boxwood
