With many cloves and an exceptional fresh and cooked flavor. Hailing from Sicily, these cloves are mild, spicy flavor, and versatile in a wide range of cuisines!
With generous cloves from pearly white to purple streaked, and with a high clove count and extended storage life, Sicilian Artichoke Garlic is a staple in any garlic lover's kitchen! Hardy throughout USDA planting zones 4 to 9 and can grow up to 2 feet tall.
Planting & Application:
Artichoke Garlic is great raw, cooked, fresh, or sauteed with a fantastic mild flavor! You can use the flavorful scapes and even grow 'Green Garlic' that is spring planted and used more like green onions which are very versatile and excellent in cooking as well!
When planting Artichoke Sicilian Garlic, divide the dormant bulbs into separate cloves (called bulbils) and plant individually with a small portion of the bulb poking above the soil, root side down. Space cloves 2 to 4 inches apart in rows 6 inches apart. Harvest once the tops have begun to brown and store them in a braid or a cool, dry place with plenty of air circulation.
