Description

Pretty in pink and heavily ruffled petals, the Kingston Ruffle Gladiolus (Gladiolus x hortulanus 'Kingston Ruffle') is a romantically feminine bold pink spires that stand out marvelously in the sunny landscape!

Kingston Ruffle Gladiolus are luxury pit stops for bees and butterflies, and even hummingbirds will not be able to resist the lure of these voluminous blooms! Plant extra so you won't feel bad when you steal a few stems for your bouquets indoors!

Flowering from the bottom up, these 40-50-inch tall flowering spires give you a long bloom time and weeks of summer color! The sword-like green foliage is vertical and only spreads 6-8 inches in width to create a space-saving burst of vibrant color!

Landscape Application:

Kingston Ruffle Gladiolus dazzles in back borders, foundation beds, and along fence lines or rock walls, anywhere rows can be both space-saving and eye-catching in the sun! Vibrant backdrops, pops of vertical color as garden punctuation, or in drifts mixed with spring and fall flowering bulbs and perennials as mass color.

Go ahead and mix with other Glads to start your own collection, or mix Kingston Ruffle in your romantic Cottage gardens and mixed perennial borders! Anywhere you place these in the garden, you'll create a pollinator hot spot and provide your indoor vases with armloads of luscious blooms!

You don't need large spaces to enjoy these incredible blooms because these space-saving bulbs add tall thrillers and showy focal points among your container gardens, front porch urns, and patio mixed planters in the sun! Apartment growers can use these tall spires as seasonal screening and accents!

  • Heavily-Ruffled Saturated Bright Pink Spires
  • Upright Sword-Shaped Green Foliage
  • Long-Lasting Bloom Time
  • Fantastic Cut Flowers & Pollinator-Friendly
  • Specimen, Container Thrillers, Focal Points & Mass Plantings

#ProPlantTips for Care:

Gladiolus flowers best in full sun in cooler growing zones but appreciates afternoon shade in hot climates. Any well-drained soil environment works great and these corms grow best when their soil isn't soggy and highly organic. These bulbs do appreciate moderate yet regular moisture access.

Plant these corms, which are round bulb-like structures, in the spring. Plant them about 6-8 inches deep. Groupings and rows have the biggest effect and impact on your garden, so plant your corms pointy side up about 5-6 inches apart.

Stake your flower wands unless you plant your Glads in a location protected from the wind. Deadhead the flowering spire as soon as the last flower fades but keep the greenery to make food for the bulb until they turn yellow.

Gladiola corms can grow as seasonal or annual accents in all USDA planting zones. However, gardeners in zones 8 to 10 can use these plants in the ground all year round as perennial accents! In zones 1 through 7, lift your corms up and store them for the winter in a cool, dry location. Each year you'll notice more and more little corms forming around the base of the parent corm for more blooms each year!
