Go big and go native, the Rattlesnake Master (Eryngium yuccifolium) is a hardy and showy native perennial with unique blooms and a commanding appearance! A type of native Sea Holly and member of the Carrot family, you'll enjoy tall spires of branched flowering stems. Each topped with a spiky rounded greenish-white green ball that will be irresistible to pollinators.

The round balls of white florets top the forked ends of the flowering stems can age to a bluish hue. Each stem can hold anywhere from 3 to 20 flower heads, up to an inch in diameter each! Blooming throughout June through September, these perennials were hallmarks of the tallgrass prairies.

The long coarse, sword-like leaves form mounds of arching leaves, growing from a central rosette of long, narrow, fibrous leaves - In fact they resemble Yucca plants! The roots were purportedly used by indigenous Americans for treating rattlesnake bites and they would use the fibrous leaves for weaving sandals and baskets.

Rattlesnake Master is a hardy perennial native throughout USDA growing zones 3 to 8, there's few climates and conditions that won't suit these tough plants! Growing tall, up to 3-5 feet in height and 2-3 feet wide, these are impressive specimens for sure!
