To obtain a more accurate shipment time-frame, simply enter your zip code in the “Find Your Growing Zone” box to the right. Our plants are grown all over the country and lead time on items may be different because of this. Once your order is placed, you will also receive the specific shipment time-frame information as part of your order confirmation. Once an item ships, you will receive shipment notification and tracking numbers, so you can follow along while your plant travels to your doorstep. We use FedEx, UPS, or USPS at our discretion.
Due to winter weather we have put a hold on shipping to the areas shown below in grey. You can still order now and we will ship the plant to you during an appropriate time for your zone.

Nature Hills offers plants in two main formats:
- Container Plants: Grown in pots with soil, sized by container volume and plant age
- Bare Root Plants: Dormant plants without soil, sized by height measurements
Container Plant Sizes
Container sizes indicate plant age and growing capacity rather than liquid volume equivalents. Our containers follow industry-standard nursery "trade gallon" specifications, which differ from standard liquid gallon measurements.

Bare Root Plants
Bare root plants are sold by height from the root system to the top of the plant. Plants may exceed minimum height requirements.

Growing Zones 3-8
Go big and go native, the Rattlesnake Master (Eryngium yuccifolium) is a hardy and showy native perennial with unique blooms and a commanding appearance! A type of native Sea Holly and member of the Carrot family, you'll enjoy tall spires of branched flowering stems. Each topped with a spiky rounded greenish-white green ball that will be irresistible to pollinators.
The round balls of white florets top the forked ends of the flowering stems can age to a bluish hue. Each stem can hold anywhere from 3 to 20 flower heads, up to an inch in diameter each! Blooming throughout June through September, these perennials were hallmarks of the tallgrass prairies.
The long coarse, sword-like leaves form mounds of arching leaves, growing from a central rosette of long, narrow, fibrous leaves - In fact they resemble Yucca plants! The roots were purportedly used by indigenous Americans for treating rattlesnake bites and they would use the fibrous leaves for weaving sandals and baskets.
Rattlesnake Master is a hardy perennial native throughout USDA growing zones 3 to 8, there's few climates and conditions that won't suit these tough plants! Growing tall, up to 3-5 feet in height and 2-3 feet wide, these are impressive specimens for sure!
Planting and Application:
Rattlesnake Master is a must have for a prairie or pollinator garden! The tall open flowering stems create visual height effects in the landscaping without blocking views, but will be smothered in every kind of beneficial insect and pollinator you can imagine!
Average soil Rock gardens, funky additions to wildflower gardens and Cottage borders. Anchor garden beds and add unique height among mixed perennial and meadow gardens. Snip a few blooms to add a quirky element to your floral bouquets! Just wear gloves because the round flowers have a ring of thorny spikes at the base!
Xeric plants, Rattlesnake Master thrives in tough conditions and a wide array of climates, Rattlesnake Master is quite xeric once established and handles tricky soil situations with ease! Rattlesnake Masters thrive in full sun and well drained soils best. Slow to establish because of their tap root, so plant it and leave it alone until it's established, watering regularly until it has settled. Trim all parts of this perennial down in spring before it starts to grow, growing in a wide range of soils and thriving in drought once established, even surviving wildfires.
